This pregnancy is very much wanted and now it's happened, I'm very nervous about the prospect of telling work. I started this teaching job in September and will have been there for an academic year by due date.
I'm 24 and qualify for mat pay, but I'm worried about how my department will treat me.
Some have been nosey asking if kids are on the cards in the future and I implied they weren't (as I didn't want to tell them I was deliberately ttc so soon after starting my job).

Agh. Ideas and advice please?

It happens. Honestly you'll think about it more than the brief titilation it will provide them.

Hell I started my most recent job pregnant! I know teaching is a vocation, but it's also just a job - and this is your whole life.

They legally can't treat you differently.

I got pregnant four weeks after starting my current job! It happens. I'm entitled to maternity pay and leave (just Grin) and haven't been treated any differently. Legally they cannot dismiss you for being pregnant (technically they CAN dismiss you during pregnancy but they have to give another reason, so many employers don't want to take the risk of being accused of discrimination).

Congratulations on your pregnancy. Smile

With my last child I was terrified to tell my employer, also slightly nervous to tell in this pregnancy but you have to remember that when you tell them, they can't say anything bad to you, it'l just be congratulations
