Blood Thinners/Tinzaparin anyone?

Is anyone else on blood thinning injections/Tinzaparin/Innohep?

I'm a triple threat (old, fat and a first time mum) so have been on them for the last 4 weeks but I'm now on the 7ml/14,000 unit dose and still not sure if the levels have settled.

Stomach is a mess of tender bruising and I'm worried I am going to have to go up to 8ml/16,000 units next week... when will it end!

Anyone in the same boat?

Not pregnant but I had surgery recently which has reduced my mobility. I need 2 anticoagulant injections a day.
It's horrible isn't it. I'm so bruised and sometimes the injection site reacts like an insect bite, raised and itchy.
I'm not having any blood tests, I have to continue for another 4 weeks.

Its crap isn't it! I'm only on one day but I have to do it until March (6 weeks after baby comes!)

I've a line of bruises all across my stomach.

I feel for you going on until March. It really is unpleasant and I keep forgetting to do the 3nd injection.

You don't have to just use your tummy if you're very bruised. Anywhere you can pinch an inch of fat. Outer thigh is reportedly less painful.

PS I was an old fat 1st time mum. Now have a 6'4" 16yr old DS! It worth every minute.

I had them for nine months when on chemo and got lots of clots. It does look messy and rules out bikinis but better than a pulmonary embolus.

I had to do this for 6 months postpartum after a DVT in my groin, it's horrible isn't it? Two things I found to make it slightly more bearable... I always got the air out of the tube before using it, the nurse told me this wasn't necessary at all but when they first did it I always found the very end part really painful and put it down to the air at the end. Second thing was I found the belly too sore and always did the tops of my thighs. Pinch a good bit of fat and jab it in. That way I'd rotate legs each day and then if they both ended up bruised and sore I'd have my belly as a back up. I was a right mess after a month of it and I hated the insecty bites / raised ones.
