32 weeks, slowed growth and reduced movement?! Advice!

Ok so I’m 32+4 (second baby), at my midwife check up last week found out baby’s growth had slowed so booked next mw appointment to be in 2 wks time instead of 3 and if by then she was still not growing enough I’d have a scan, so I’ve been anxious since as my first baby was perfect size etc.

Anyway a few days ago I woke up in so much pain I couldn’t move, ate breakfast and it improved so I just got on with my day, however since then I’ve felt her movements have seriously reduced.

Till now all movements/kicks have been quite painful then all of a sudden it’s like I’m just feeling the odd flutter which is strange. I went up to the antenatal ward today to be monitored and was basically told that her heart rate is fine so they weren’t concerned but that if her movements haven’t gone back to normal that I should come back in first thing in the morning. Obviously I’m relieved that baby seems fine however I’m so concerned that they’re telling me she’s moving about like normal and I just suddenly can’t feel her?? Especially since I’ve just been told she’s not grown, am I over worrying? Or should I push for tests? My guts telling me not to let this go!

Anyone have any advice or similar experiences would be great!!

Could it be the baby has changed position?

I was in a couple of weeks ago for reduced movements and they said it was likely due to me having a uti. Because I was feeling under the weather baby was too.

How we feel can affect baby but not feeling baby move as much is stressful. If there is no improvement maybe ring midwife or ask for a scan?

@Brook072
I would do whatever you're gut is telling you. Usually we are right and if you're not then that's good news anyway. If you don't get tests done then you will just sit and stress out no matter what anyone tells you anyway. So you might as well put you're mind at ease and get the test done that you want. Otherwise you will be stressed and worried and you're baby will feel this.

This probably was much help. Sorry xx

Could it be that there's just less space in there for her to be swinging around now she's bigger?

If it were me I’d go with my gut and push for tests. It will almost certainly be fine however there is no risk worth taking if you are concerned. Big hugs!

Hi, I had this same situation when I was 33 weeks (now 37) - reduced movement and growth, the reduced growth was picked up because they referred me for a scan after 2 episodes of reduced movements. The two things often go hand in hand, so if you are at all concerned I would push for a scan. They have to do them 2 weeks apart to see how the growth is progressing - at my second scan they were quite happy that baby was growing, but just on the small side. However I’m still having regular fetal well-being and growth scans and they may well induce me in the next week - that is because of the size of the baby though, do you have any idea what sort of size baby is currently?

If there’s any suspected issues with movements and growth they should be putting a plan in place with you and giving you that reassurance, I know how stressful it can be and the only thing that helped was having that regular monitoring.
