Hi,
I was just wonder if anyone had been through something similar? I'm taking cerrazette but I don't take it at exact time everyday. A few weeks ago, I got really sick and couldn't keep any of my medications down for about 4 days. We're frequently intimate and forgot to use condoms after that. I'm now on day 46 with no period and whilst I have quite long cycles (39 days on average) I'm not normally this late with almost no pms as well. I took a cb digi this morning and it came back negative. I've been told however that they aren't very sensitive and I'm not sure if I used it right. I've been really struggling with my appetite lately, I've only been able to eat certain foods, if I don't feel like eating it, it makes me nauseous/a bit sick. I also have a small bump that wasn't there previously and it's not from weight gain as you can feel the muscle directly underneath plus it's in the right place and expected shape for a pregnancy. My nipples are also larger, darker and have glands sticking up which is characteristic of a pregnancy, not to mention my milk ducts are swelling. It is also possible that my last 'period' was implantation bleeding which would mean I'd be around 2-3 months. (Sorry if that's tmi) Confused
In the past I struggled with anorexia for 3 years and whilst I'm pretty much recovered I'm worried it will have affected my fertility. After my recovery I suffered a miscarriage at the hands of an abusive ex but as I never went to the doctor after I lost them, I can only suspect this. Sad
My new partner and I would be ecstatic to get a BFP but we keep hoping.
My family has a history of thyroid issues but I have been tested for that and it came back all clear. If anyone knows what to do, we'd really appreciate the help.

There's really no way to tell at this stage.

I've been on Cerezette in the past and it's known for stopping your periods so perhaps this is a possible cause. Having said that, I've fallen pregnant this time round on a different pill so its always possible.,, especially if you've not been taking it correctly as you said.

In regards to your bump... this could be pregnancy... it could be bloat.

My suggestion would be to wait and test again... or speak to your doctor if you're concerned.

Bumblebeeb · 20/11/2018 07:34

Thank you :) I don't know if it's bloat as it's been there all week but who knows. As for the certazette I've been on it for years and I've never had it stop them before... I really appreciate your help

Digital should do the job if you conceived more than two weeks ago...

Effectively you stopped and started the pill. I reckon that is a possible explanation for all this. And the tummy would be bloat unless you're in the second trimester.

Hi,
That actually makes so much sense! Thank you :) I got a BFN this morning so here's to hoping
Thanks again to the both of you x

If you want to be pregnant why don't you stop taking the pill?

Bumblebeeb · 20/11/2018 11:13

Just spoke to my doctor and because of my family's history of under active thyroids, apparently it could render home tests useless Grin

If you were pregnant enough to have a bump you'd get a positive test.

I agree with PPs - if you want to be pregnant, taking the pill isn't the way to go about it!

physicskate · 20/11/2018 12:08

@Bumblebeeb I'm sorry but that's rubbish. Even if YOU had underactive thyroid (not just a family history) it would not absorb the hcg or otherwise render a home test negative. Come look at my tests if you don't believe me (I'm currently on levothyroxine but had two chemicals while underactive and had positive tests.

Bumblebeeb · 20/11/2018 12:49

We haven't actively been trying to get pregnant, when we realised the possibility of it, my partner and I started hoping for it. We're both reasonably young however after the arrival of our niece we absolutely fell in love with the idea of having a child but wanted to wait until we weren't struggling with our mental health as much. But due to my full medical history (which I haven't disclosed and the medications I'm on), they've said I should have my GP check it out especially since when I had my thyroid checked I was living abroad and I was 10.

I was told it's also possible that I'm having an ectopic pregnancy as that can severely impact a home test.
But again, thank you all for the help. We're just hoping that we find out what's going on soon.

Will the doctor do a blood test for you?

With your doctor suggesting it could be an ectopic, he should have referred you for a scan!

Good luck. Hope you get the end result you want

Trixie101 · 20/11/2018 13:01

Sorry but if youre getting symptoms then that would mean hcg levels are more than high enough to be a bfp also id suggest going to the docs to get a blood test if you think you are only way of knowing for sure i was also on cerazette and after about 6 months it stopped my periods so that can also happen if you mess your pill up plus your milk ducts dont swell that early im nearly 39 weeks and mine only recently started to swell!! If you want to be pregnant stop taking the pill!! X

MonkeyToucher · 20/11/2018 16:07

Isn’t there a thing where if you are further along in pregnancy the tests aren’t accurate (I want to say the hook effect?). So if there’s a chance you’re 2-3months the only way to know for certain is a scan? Can you self refer to your local epu for a scan to check?

Bumblebeeb · 20/11/2018 16:31

@MonkeyToucher
That's what my partner and I were thinking. We thought I was pregnant at the end of September and my stomach looks just like an 8-10 week baby bump. I'm just so worried about there being an issue after my horrible miscarriage a couple of years ago. I really don't know if I could take that again. I'm trying to book an emergency consultation with my GP as she knows my family history (and all the women in my family have tricky pregnancy's.) I also found that the test I took this morning was defective as I'd kept it in the bathroom overnight where it went below freezing... whoops Blush x

Just got my BFP Grin I was also told I have TSH though which is why it wasn't picking up and I'm further along than we thought. Thank you all for your help, I wish you all the best and a happy holidays x

Everyone has tsh. It's thyroid stimulating hormone. Too much of it means your thyroid might not be responding. It's a different hormone to hcg which is only present in pregnancy.

Congrats on the bfp.

And an 8-10 week 'bump' is just a bit of bloat - the embryo won't have left your pelvis until after 10 weeks.
