Sausages and milk protein

Hi there :-) worrier here :-)
I was watching a YouTube video that states that pregnant women can't have sausages or bacon? Is this true?
Also I was planning on having pie later and read that it has mill proteins in it, would this be safe? Not sure if labels have to state if something is pasteurized or not :-/ or will cooking the pie make it pasteurized if it wasn't?

Stop watching shite on YouTube! Of course you can have properly cooked sausages and what on earth could be wrong with milk protein??

SoyDora · 19/11/2018 12:36

No it’s not true.
For guidance on what you should and shouldn’t eat, use the NHS website. That’s all you need.

NHS link has all UK guidelines regarding foods pregnant women are advised to avoid/not eat.

www.nhs.uk/conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/foods-to-avoid-pregnant/

You can eat sausages, bacon, and any milk/milk products used in commercially prepared food will be pasteurised. Raw milk is very rare in the UK unless it is bought directly from a farm.

Ignore random information from non-reputable sources, and if in doubt check the link above.

Pasteurising kills off a lot of bacteria. All milk proteins used by manufacturers will be pasteurised. There is no reason to avoid foods with milk proteins, unless you are allergic to milk Smile

The NHS have produced a list of foods to avoid in PG here and the Association of U.K. Dieticians have produced this useful leaflet.

Agree with demented though, you need to stop watching shite videos on YouTube Grin

Wanted a custardcream last night and got worried about that too! Silly me!

SoyDora · 19/11/2018 13:11

What could possibly be harmful in a custard cream?

There's so much shit on the internet! Mostly out there to scare nervous people.

Stick to the NHS guidance and that only!

JiltedJohnsJulie · 19/11/2018 13:57

If everyone is saying the same thing to you, I think it might be time to do something about it Smile

First read the NHS Food to avoid I need PG.

Then stop watching YouTube videos as these seem to be fuelling you’re anxiety.

It might be worthwhile doing an online CBT course, I really would recommend this for you.

Join a PG yoga class if you can. It should help you to relax and you’ll meet some other Mums-to-Be.

Try some guided meditation. There’s an app called Insight Timer or look up Guided Meditation on YouTube.

If you’re still this anxious after doing sone positive thing she to try and alleviate your anxiety, please talk to you mw Thanks
