I am 11 wks preg and at my 7 week scan they told me I have a Retroverted uterus ... I don’t really understand it other than you can show later . Can it go back to normal at 12 weeks?

I have this, only found out at an early scan on my second baby so went through a whole pregnancy and birth without knowing. It's very common and normal, usually genetic. It stops being tilted usually around 12 weeks I think.

I've had 3 and only found out durimg 2nd pregnancy, I was only told because doc found it interesting, was told it was nothing to worry about x

I have this. It meant that when I had to have a scan at 8 weeks it had to be internal.
12 week scan was abdominal, although they did comment on the fact that it wasn't the easiest to see everything at first as my uterus was retroverted.
I'm now 24 weeks. No issues at all. 20 week scan was as normal Smile

It means it tips backwards rather than forwards and can make the baby harder to find on scans - did you have an transvaginal scan at 7 weeks? It was found on my scan too, and I'm now 28 weeks and have had no issues. I believe its linked to painful sex which I have the misfortune of suffering, but you'd know if that's an issue for you by now! And to be honest its just nice to have an explanation. I wouldn't worry yourself about it.

Thanks everyone that’s good to know , I actually had an abdominal scan at 7+4 , she did push quite hard though. I was also hopeing it doesn’t mean il have less of a bump as I can’t wait to have one Grin maybe it’ll go back to normal , thanks!

It’s nothing to worry about - around 20% of women have a retroverted uterus so it’s pretty common. As the baby grows it will move into a more forward (anteverted) position and you’ll have a bump like everyone else.

I have this two and currently on my second pregnancy. Nothing to worry about at all, it usually straightens up after about 12 weeks anyway.

I was able to have abdominal scans from 7 weeks too, with both babies!

Don't worry about not having a bump, I had one from an average stage with DS, and early in with baby number 2!
