Morning x I have a 20 year old DD who was told last week she could be having an ectopic pregnancy. She is now 7+3 and 12 days ago a T/V US gave a diagnosis of early intrauterine pregnancy with geststional and yolk sac seen and left ovary containing cortus luteum. Sonographer told DD all is well situated and in the correct place etc.
She's been spotting since finding out she is pregnant. She had to return for another scan a week later to look for heartbeat which was seen. This was done using abdominal US but by a different sonographer who told her that it looks like her pregnancy could be ectopic and a second opinion is needed. This was due to the fact that the pregnancy looked situated to the right side of the womb? Sonographer not kind or helpful at all, I'm doubting that she even knew what she was looking at or if she'd read the first US report? EPU is extremely busy at our local hospital.
That second opinion is taking place this afternoon by a consultant. I have prepared my DD for the worst BUT having read her first US report last night and doing a bit of googling I can't see how an ectopic is possible if yolk sac seen and measured well and a diagnosis of intrauterine pregnancy was made? Am I getting my hopes up? Can anybody advise please, thank you x
