Will birth be easier because I have previously had a mc at 11 weeks?

I had a mc at 11 weeks that involved contractions and pushing. I didn't get to the hospital until quite late in the day as I didn't realise what was happening and it was new years eve so I had a horrific time in A&E so didn't recieve any pain relief for ages. The next day the gyno team helped me (wont go into details) and were very upset that I'd had no support or pain relief.

Do you have any experience related to this? Do you think it'll make birth easier, second time round if you like?

No sorry it won’t make any difference in my experience. There is such a difference in size. I had a similar experience to you at 13 weeks but then gave birth and was in labour for 3 days and had a v hard time pushing her out. Managed in the end but I don’t think the mc has anything to do with it. Hope you’re ok, it’s a horrible thing to
go through. I still think of it quite a bit 5 years on but I’m so lucky now to have 2 beautiful dds with very easy pregnancies (and births were fine really - no lasting damage or assistance), just not easy!!

Sorry, even having a full term baby doesn't necessarily make it easier the second time around.

Thanks for replying schopenhauer. I was nervous about asking.

Yeah, I think about it all the time and I've somehow managed to get to 34 weeks so far this time! I don't think I'll ever really get over it.

I suspected that the size difference would mean it wouldn't make a difference.

I'm so happy for you having two DDs!!! Congrats Smile

Hi,

I don't think it makes it easier as such but my midwife did say that going through labour and delivery previously (even in sad circumstances) means that your body better knows what to do. This was when we were discussing VBAC versus ELCS and they were trying to reassure me that I wouldn't end up being induced this time around.

I've no idea if it is true or not to be honest as I opted for an elcs but it stuck with me.

Hope all goes well x

Thank you WelshMammy123. I wondered if at least my body wouldn't be as shocked about it.

Unlikely. It’s not until later stages of pregnancy does your body really get ready for labour.

Sorry for your previous loss.
