I'm in 38+2 and in hospital at the minute due to extreme dehydration because I can't stop being sick and am being pumped with anti sickness meds and fluids because there are ketones in my wee, amongst other issues. This is my second night. I feel shocking.

There's another lady on the ward who is 24 weeks and keeps bleeding and is on bedrest to stop her going into labour.

In the two other beds they've just put two ladies who are being induced. One came in with her toddler and had to be told by a midwife that he couldn't be here. The other couple are young, and are ordering an Indian to be delivered to the ward for their tea. It's become chaos quite quickly.

Now I'm not one for complaining, I know the nhs is stretched and if these are the only beds then fine. But I'm really really not feeling well, I don't want to have to lie here smelling their curry from my hospital bed.

Am I wrong? Do I just suck it up? I've not seen a midwife or anyone since 5.30pm I'm starting to wonder if I've been forgotten about.

Dandybelle · 13/11/2018 20:39

No because I didn't want it, but I see your point.

We have spent a lot of time in hospitals due to a condition my dd has and can assure you I've seen it all. The little boy in the bed next to ours brought in stinking chippy at 10pm and had the telly blasting till 11! This is in a children's hospital in a bay where the kids were all having ops the next day!

Not very nice but frankly common place and the only time I've seen anyone question it is when we were in a nil by mouth bay and it wasn't fair on the kids who were being starved to see others with a McDonalds!

I spent a few nights on the antenatal ward earlier in pregnancy. I felt bad for all the women being induced.

One woman was complaining really loudly on the phone about her fish and chips hospital meal. She then proceeded to call everyone in her contacts list. It was painful. Especially as another woman was ready for the labour ward (to deliver) and they had nk room for her, poor thing.

I thought I was gonna go deaf due to all the baby monitoring! 3 nights of bang bang bang, from multiple locations, is just too much.

I guess it is what it is. As long as no one was invading your bay you just have put up with it.

I'd be more worried that your bug could spread to the 24 weeker and land her in trouble.

Not a good set up at all really.

Not surprising though.

Flowers hope you feel better soon

The lady opposite me's partner has just sat and rolled a joint. They've both gone out for a smoke.

They've moved the 24 week lady, thank goodness.
