Anyone else been watching this?

Was bawling my eyes out at 630am this morning watching it with that poor lady with the cord prolapse last night. How terrifying must that have been?

Gets me so excited to meet my little one though Smile

I don't have Watch so I can't see it. There doesn't appear to be any way you can watch it without having that exact channel on Sky. ☹️

sailing123 · 13/11/2018 12:46

I've been watching avidly and I love it, however I haven't watched yesterdays episode yet as the trailers looked really horrible and I really don't want to watch something if it ends badly as I am not feeling like I could cope with that at the moment for various reasons. Should I watch?! xx

Mikewazowskismrs · 13/11/2018 12:58

Ah that’s rubbish thatone!

It was scary to watch sailing but had a happy ending so worth a watch IMO!

Caught up on it this morning. Definitely a bit scary but happy outcome!

This week's episode does include a bit on stillbirth and bereavement which was a bit tricky but you can skip that and it's only her training, no actual patients.

Bobbiepin · 13/11/2018 15:42

I'm on episode 3 and she's annoying me. Fainting in surgery and making such a big deal out of taking blood. It's all a bit self centred for me.

HeresMeh · 13/11/2018 15:46

I'm gutted I'm missing this but I'm the same as the previous poster, I don't have the channel and can't find it on catch up!

Looks fab!

Bigonesmallone3 · 13/11/2018 16:02

It's brilliant, she's brilliant.
That First Lady last night who was on her fifth was bloody amazing the way she gave birth and the second lady with the prolapse was such a trooper, I agree with Emma I would love to have an oz of her inner strength!

PennyMordauntsLadyBrain · 13/11/2018 16:04

What channel is this on?

I haven’t caught any of it so far

sailing123 · 13/11/2018 16:08

thanks @mike and @orange I will give it a watch tonight xx

beefchowmein · 13/11/2018 16:12

I think she fainted because she was watching the same type of birth she’d been through (emergency forceps) which was quite traumatic.

If I’m right Emma Willis has birth trauma from her first birth (the forceps) then went on to have her next 2 via maternal request planned c-section, so she seems ideal for presenting this sort of thing.

I’ve not actually properly watched though, is it any better than OBEM?

adheir · 13/11/2018 16:16

I was in labour and delivered in that hospital when she was there! She was in my ward and I made DH close the curtains so that I wouldn't be filmed.

Imagine being on telly just after a rough labour with no bra on and a catheter! God 😬

IWannaSeeHowItEnds · 13/11/2018 16:16

I really like it. She is so good with the families. Not surprised she fainted - she was watching a vaginal repair. I think most of us would be a bit wobbly seeing thst for the first time.

Bobbiepin · 13/11/2018 19:20

@beefchowmein she fainted whilst watching a woman being stitched up. Nothing about the birth. Granted its not pleasant to watch but midwifery is a tough job and there will be a bit of blood here and there!

PanamaPattie · 13/11/2018 19:36

It all seems too intrusive to me. Childbirth is an intimate and life changing event. I wouldn't be happy being filmed. Emma could just as easily followed the MW ( with permission from the women involved) to satisfy her curiosity regard the role, without making it all about her on TV.

ILiveForNachos · 13/11/2018 20:32

@panamapattie but the whole point is that it’s for our enjoyment and I am enjoying it. It’s great to see the amazing work these teams do to deliver babies and it’s great to see someone work proper 13 hour shifts and properly live how hard it is. All the mums filmed obviously ok’d being filmed and those that didn’t (like the lady above!) didn’t!

I was most shocked she’s 42. I want what her face has been having she looks incredible!

Joshie2012 · 14/11/2018 20:03

I love this programme and watch it avidly .... think Emma is so natural and lovely .... and the mums .... wow what troopers 💪

CrabbyPatty · 14/11/2018 20:15

You have a choice about whether to be filmed or not. Although I used to work at a Children's Hospital that was featured on tv and was a bit uncomfortable with parents consenting to having their sick kids filmed when they are at their most vulnerable. Student nurses/midwives and even qualified staff have been known to faint at times. Its not about beig hardened to everything.

Bobbiepin · 15/11/2018 12:08

Just watched the cord prolapse episode. 31 seconds for a section is astonishing. How lucky are we to have access to such wonderful health care

SharedLife · 15/11/2018 13:00

I'm finding it so interesting. I love that they are highlighting the importance of the HCA role. I think the auxiliary roles are overlooked or looked down on and this is showing how vital it is and the training and skill they need to have.
I was totally amazed by the midwife and the whole team dealing with the cord prolapse, jumping to action immediately and saving babies life. It's one of my big fears and seeing this episode had given me confidence that it will be dealt with well if it should happen, god forbid.
