Tracking baby’s movements

Hello! I’m about 21 weeks into my first pregnancy, and in the last week or so I’ve started to feel our little bub rolling around in there Smile such a lovely feeling! Grin

I just wondered if anyone had some advice about when and how to start keeping track of baby’s movements? I have an anterior placenta so I know that means I’ll probably feel less movement than some people, but I don’t want to miss any important signs and any tips would be really appreciated!

TIA x

I have an anterior placenta and started feeling movement about the same time as you. I do find it quite difficult (anxiety inducing) to begin with when tracking movement. I had to go in once to be checked after LO went to sleep after a particularly heavy meal. All is fine now thankfully.

There's lots of info and advice online but one of the good things I've seen is a 'kick' counter. I've not used one myself but you use it to track movement by how many and when so you know when you should expect more.

If you feel that movement has reduced do call your local unit/seek advice from midwife. Don't just do nothing. That being said I found it difficult to cope before baby settled into a pattern, which thankfully he did, as it was so erratic.

Congrats Flowers

Should say- for me it started as definite kicks above and bubble movements below. You may start to feel hiccups which are different again. It's nice when they get bigger and you feel the rolls and swooshes Grin

Mine were really sporadic to start with but have settled into a pattern now. Did so around 25/6 weeks. I'm 28 weeks and midwife told me yesterday to monitor pattern/changes from now onwards.

I have the kicks count app. I tap it when I notice him moving. You count the groups of movements, so once he’s had a rest and starts up again, I log the next lot :)

Thanks guys, that’s really helpful Smile I have my next midwife appt on 6 Dec at 25/26 weeks so I think I’ll download a kick counter then, and just try to relax and enjoy it til then! I never realised being pregnant could be so nerve-inducing!! X

I'd second the Kicks Count app... it kept me calm throughout the second half of the pregnancy.

Good luck op.
