I am going to an event on Friday. Posh dress type thing. I am only a few months pregnant but I am absolutely huge with a massive bump.

I can't find anything to wear

I have a big bump, arms and legs are not looking their best at the moment due to lack of exercise. I ordered something off ASOS the size 8 fitted but I just hate the dress and it feels cheap (to be fair it was only £22)

Can anyone help find me something that can arrive before Friday?? Even if it is something non maternity but can accommodate the bump.

I don't really want it long, but would consider it.

I am feeling vile at the moment and just want to feel nice on a night out.

No particular budget, but ideally no more than £100.

Help !!!!

Just some more info. I am 36 - would rather wear something that is not too old fashioned. I like all colours - would prefer not black but open to anything really.

I would like to look a bit sexy

Boohoo have some lovely dresses online, not sure about quality though xx

TheArtfulScreamer · 12/11/2018 20:32

Phase 8 sent an email the other day with a link to some Serephine maternity dresses that looked lovely. I've bought a black lace next maternity dress from Ebay and that's my go to for all events over the next few months.

zucchinieggplant · 12/11/2018 20:36

Zara have a maternity line now, it doesn't seem hugely comprehensive but might be one to keep an eye on? They have some simple rub dresses that could be dressed up with accessories? Seraphine usually have nice belts.

Cuddlykitten123 · 12/11/2018 20:38

The only place ever really found that had things in store to try was h&m.

I got a lovely maternity dress (sort of vintage 50s ish) from tiffany rose for a wedding.

NotTired · 12/11/2018 20:40

Mamalicious normally have nice occasion dresses.

socksortights · 12/11/2018 20:41

Already a few places I have not thought of trying - thank you. I am going to take a look once I have sat down for the evening.

It has to be online as I have no time to go to a shop to try stuff on.

I have ordered something off eBay (a Maya dress) but that won't come till Thursday so I definitely need a few back ups.

It's very hard ! I like my bump. It's just the puffy face, sturdy legs and flabby arms that are a new pregnancy treat for me

This long dress from Seraphine is £115, a few others on the page are similarly priced. (Though some are £300 Shock) If you join their list, you get 10% off...

Seraphine for definite. The luxe range in particular is lovely.

I have a referral link for £15 off if that helps :)

ASOS have lots of brands not just their own and their next day delivery is super reliable so you can order up to Thursday, returns are also very easy so you could buy a few then send them back . I find some of the maternity dresses actually make your bump look huge as they cut under the breasts. I’ve got a really large bump but I’ve felt more attractive in stretchy non maternity dresses. I’ve got a stretchy sparkly number that still fits well perhaps you could look for that style and at least then you will wear it after?

Debenhams have some lovely maternity drsses to suit all budgets

Tiffany Rose have formal and evening maternity dresses. Really nice! A little pricey but there's a lot of options in different colours.

socksortights · 12/11/2018 21:04

Firsttimemum that long red one is a serious contender I think. I never normally wear long dresses (pre pregnancy my legs were an asset.. no more...) what kind of shoes do you wear?

Might be worth looking at Bravissimo clothing - I have quite a few Bravissimo dresses that I hope will do me well into the second trimester.

Babydust18 · 12/11/2018 22:44

Next have a few brands online now I had a dress for a wedding from there few weeks back. Asos has been my go to site though for pure ease of delivery and selection.

firsttimemum090 · 13/11/2018 06:36

I love the red too, v elegant. The model has some sort of stiletto on, I like the gold coloured ones more than the thick black straps. Not sure id be able to pull off a heel that height whilst pregnant but ymmv! Xx

StarfishSandwich · 13/11/2018 08:02

People are raving about the Boohoo stuff on a breastfeeding group I’m on. It’s 20% off everything at the moment and they do next day delivery so for £15-20 I’d say it’s worth a try?

Papergirl1968 · 13/11/2018 08:38

Can’t help on thus one, but just to say the lack of maternity wear in shops in awful.
Dd, 17, is pregnant and as she’s very petite we went to look in store rather than buy online.
We have a huge shopping mall nearby and the only place with actual maternity clothes, apart from Mothercare, which is expensive, was H&M. No going out dresses that I could see, but plenty of t-shirts, jeans, bras etc.
I’m sure New Look, Dorothy Perkins etc used to stock maternity wear in store, but they seem to have stopped.

stealthbanana · 13/11/2018 08:48

Isabella oliver.

They have loads of good quality right plain dresses in dark colours (black, burgundy, green) etc. Pick your basic dress, add a big necklace and some nice heels and a glam clutch and you’re done. It’s the only way to do formal maternity dressing esp with bitter limbs - otherwise you end up looking like an upholstered sofa (I speak from bitter experience).

Sunshinegirl82 · 13/11/2018 08:50

Jojo Maman Bebe are the only shop that I find reliably stocks their maternity wear in store. They do have some more "dressy" bits available so might be worth a look.

Blueroses99 · 13/11/2018 08:57

Tiffany Rose and Seraphine are both great for good quality dressy stuff. I found that theres lots available on eBay, Shpock etc in perfect condition where they have been bought for a special occasion and only worn once, obviously cheaper than brand new.

Chi Chi London?

They work similar to ASOS with deliveries and returns too.
