Hi all, first pg, low risk, baby is fully engaged and in the right position for birth.

Tonight (and this morning when I woke briefly) I've been having shooting pains (where babies head is) worse when in certain positions but definitely feeling a pressure 24/7, and he's been very, very active. Also I've been suddenly quite blocked up and gassy (tmi) the last couple days instead of my usual bowel movements. I don't think I've lost my plug yet but I know not all women even notice it.

Could shooting pains be a sign of impending labour? Or just classic Braxton hicks at this point?

Thanks!!Smile

BH are not meant to be painful (certainly not for me).
Sounds promising!

@orangejuicer oooo okay, thanks!! I'm quite happy for him to come a bit early as I'm sure he's already a big baby and I don't think I'd survive 40 weeks or more Grin

I’m 39+5 and I’ve been getting the pressure/shooting pains for the last couple of weeks. Still don’t think I’m anywhere near going into labour though, my midwife said it’s baby moving down and getting into the right position. Braxton Hicks are more like a tightening feeling rather than a pain and cause the whole bump to go rock hard for a time rather than being down below.

The shooting pains sound like what I've heard called "fanny daggers" almost like an electric shock in your cervix sort of thing. They're common throughout pregnancy and don't really mean anything and won't be BH related but it definitely sounds as though baby is engaged! Hopefully the increased BH are a good sign for you Smile
