Underwired bra

I was chatting with a couple of ladies from my aquanatal class who seemed horrified that at nearly 31 weeks I'm still wearing my normal underwired bras. I'm an e/f cup normally and find that non underwired just don't give me any support. Do I need to just accept sagginess for the rest of my pregnancy or am I fine to stick with underwire as long as it's comfy? I'm hoping to breastfeed if this makes any difference.

Stick with it. I was given similar rubbish advice in first pregnancy and now have awful stretch marks in cleavage. Had no trouble breastfeeding subsequent babies having worn a wired bra throughout.

As long as it's comfortable carry on. If you want a non under wired one Debenham do supportive ones

I have 2 really supportive non wired bras and still hate them! I’m a similar size and have been wearing my wired bra throughout don’t see why I should be uncomfortable

MrsL2016 · 10/11/2018 19:45

As long as they fit correctly and are comfortable then it's fine. I couldn't stand wearing underwires from pretty early on in my pregnancy, but everyone is different.

You cane get underworld maternity bras. They are supposed to be a bit more flexible but they are great- hotmilk do some you can get at bravissimo.

Angelmiracle · 10/11/2018 19:50

Similar- tried nonwired in first pregnancy and it was a waste of money. You may need to change size of your wired bras a time or two in pregnancy.

DevonCherry · 10/11/2018 19:50

I can't tell you how good it felt to go and buy some decent, supportive underwired bras when I finished breastfeeding! If you're fine in them now, just wear them until you're not, if that happens.

If you’re comfortable it’s fine to stick with underwired bras. I’ve always worn underwired, pregnant or not save for a couple of weeks post-birth on each occasion. Also got an underwired sports bra which is fab.

I’m 38 weeks pregnant and still in my underwired bras. I just use a back strap extender from JoJo and they fit perfect. I need the support otherwise it’s too uncomfortable.

Starsong82 · 10/11/2018 20:16

Thanks ladies, I'll stick with underwire for as long as it's comfy then! I'll also take a look at those mentioned from bravissimo and debenhams or maybe an extender as I have to admit they are starting to feel a little snug :)

I looked on the boob or bust Facebook page for info about this just yesterday. It's fine! As long as the bra fits well and doesn't dig in.

I wore underwire through out my last pregnancy and this one and whilst breastfeeding last time (for 2 years). I find non-underwire very uncomfortable. As long as they fit and are comfortable there is really no reason to change.

WhoAteAllTheDinosaurs · 10/11/2018 23:39

36 weeks and still resolutely wearing underwires here! Way more comfortable! Have had to change size a few times, but as long as they fit and the wires don't dig in they're fine.

marie201 · 11/11/2018 08:12

I went to my local lingerie shop and got my maternity bras from there and all 3 are underwired as I hate non-wired bras - they make my breasts look shapeless at a 32FF.

My bras are by Panache so some manufacturers do make underwired maternity bras but the wire is more 'flexible' than standard underwired.

BendingSpoons · 11/11/2018 08:35

Pregnant and breastfeeding here and wearing underwired bras. I can't stand non underwired ones and it drives me mad they don't make underwired feeding bras! I read a suggestion of how to convert one last time but never got round to it.

marie201 · 11/11/2018 08:59

BendingSpoons - all of mine are maternity/feeding bras so all 3 unclip to expose the breast and they are all underwired.

BendingSpoons · 11/11/2018 14:35

Marie that's good to know. Maybe I need to try more independent/specialist shops. Didn't have any luck with department stores last time.
