Yes and probably, yes.

For bottles, definitely yes. If BF I didn’t need to at night with my DS - he was a slow feeder and didn’t seem to take in much wind and would feed to sleep. DD feeds much faster and definitely needed winded even through the night for the first couple of months.

I have never burped a baby mid feed, I know others do but I have never found it necessary for either of my children.

I also found that just sitting the baby up right would eventually lead to a burp if one was there, so didn't particularly stress about getting a burp up. Babies are much more capable than people often give them credit, their body knows what to do, if you've got to burp you will burp, pat on the back or not.

Both mine bottle fed.

I bottle feed DS and haven't winded him mid-feed since he was about a week old. He just screamed for him milk which made him swallow air which made him windier which made him cry more 🤷🏼‍♀️

I never burped my DD and she is fine (18 months). I read that burping isn't necessary and something invented in our western culture. If they need to burp they will regardless of whether you 'burp ' them. Just what I read but has proven true for me
