hello everyone
i thought babies were supposed to move less towards the end of pregnancy?
instead my little one appears to have gone into some sort of disco dancing overdrive - especially at night.
I am really struggling to sleep as he is flipping around for up to an hour at a time, then just a short break before he kicks off again. Of course he (or she) goes much quieter during the day.
does any of this mean anything? If he keeps to these patterns when he is born he is going to be very nocturnal. But more importantly i'm hoping it's nothing to worry about?
I do like feeling the movement but it is exhausting me!
similar experiences anyone?

Babies are lulled by your movement during the day, and wake up the minute you put your feet up or go to bed.
All perfectly normal, and very annoying. DD's both did it. They have less room to move later on, but if you've got a fidgeter they find a way, it's just more uncomfy for you.
Can you put your feet up on the sofa for a couple of hours before you go to bed, and try to get it to do it then???
I slept so little in the last few weeks with both it seems cruel of nature to make it that way but people always used to say it's preparing you for what it'll be like when the baby comes. Made me want to punch them in hte face.

Try a nap in the day if you can too.

thanks! i ended up getting up really early this morning because there just wasn't any point carrying on trying to sleep.
i figure I can try and have a nap, like you suggest, later today, or just go to bed early or something! thanks for the thoughts.

S'okay. I found the last 2 weeks the worst so you may get even more uncomfy before the end. Sorry........
Rolling over in bed became an event

I remember this well, it was awful and then I went 2 weeks over!

Definitely sleep whenever you can, I didn't and turned into an exhausted emotional wreck. I stupidly thought I'd sleep better at night if I didn't nap in day
Then my LO arrived and I soon got used to sleeping during the day and being up at night

DD2 was 2 weeks late. Luckily dd1 still had a nap then so I crashed for a couple hours. Was utterly exhausted with dd1 to care for too. I don't know how women have 6 kids to look after and cope with being pg.

as you are getting bigger the baby has less room, but while you are relaxing it is far easier for them to have aplay. My last pregnancy was dts, and despite the lack of room they still managed to turn right around at the end, and would fight a lot at night. I found that one of the twins hated being laid on, and would kick and wake the other up. It might be worthwhile you experimenting with different positions to see if your baby is less fidgety. I would recomend lots and lots of pillows too, only way I could sleep towards the end, and kicking doesnt seem too bad then.

miniegg you are not alone -I'm due in 3 days with DS1 and hes as active as ever - kicks out his bum under my left ribs all day and when I try to sleep (on my side) it feels like hes punching either side of my groin making me feel guilty that I'm squashing him. My fundus height is 40cms and I've been ahead of the scale all the way, I also have a short midriff so he cant have much room. MW told me its all normal.
