If you have to be induced it really isn't the end of the world.
I was induced with DD at 41+3 and it was honestly fine. Only needed one pessary, admitted to antenatal ward and had pessary on the Saturday night. Nothing all night, nothing for most of Sunday, but I wasn't in any pain, was able to have a wander about the hospital, eat, relax, have my partner with me, I was comfortable and it was fine, by the Sunday evening contractions started, DD born 3 hours later. Only one pessary, just gas and air, no assistance and only 20 mins pushing, healthy and happy Mum and baby. Induction isn't always a long drawn out process (although for some women it can be, but not necessarily for every woman), and it doesn't have to be a negative experience. I've nothing to compare it too, as I've only ever had an induced labour so I can't say whether or not it was more painful than natural labour, what I would say is because things happened so quickly it did feel as though there was no break between my contractions, just one after the other. But because I was progressing so quickly I felt like I could do it, I knew my DD would arrive quickly, and I had a lovely encouraging midwife.
Im no expert but, I would think with this being your second, you've a good chance that your body will respond well to the pessary, you might not necessarily need anything more invasive.
Also some hospitals give you the option of going home after one pessary for up to 24 hours so it might be worth looking into whether your hospital allows this. I'm 14 weeks pregnant now and the hospital I've chosen this time around offers this option, plus you are still able to use the birthing pool and give birth in the MLU if you've had a maximum of two pessarys. Might be worth looking into whether or not your hospital offers this also.
Good luck! You might still go into natural labour yet, but if not try not to worry, easier said than done I know.
