Unexplained pain

Hello!

I've been having a lot of pain in the lower right end of my bikini line sort of area. Saw a GP on Monday about it, then OOH GP on Tuesday. The one Monday said call the GP/111 if it got worse, which is why I called OOH on Tuesday evening (it had got worse/constant). Tuesday night GP said she suspected kidney stones and wanted a follow up to re-check urine. The pain improved on Wednesday, but I had a followup today. The pain is now not constant, but fairly frequent and the pain level is getting worse.
This morning the doctor seemed very flippant and just said it was a normal part of my body getting ready for the baby and that it should go away with rest (which is hard to get with a 12 month old!).

I'm now nervous about what may be going on, anyone had anything similar? Would it be worth going for a private scan?

That sounds horrible - and really scary. How far gone are you?

I've had some really horrible pains that started there and, at their worst, were so bad I couldn't stand up. They've since spread to other parts of my abdomen, although they are mainly in my right lower groin/hip area. When I saw my midwife, she said it was round ligament pain. Are you able to get in touch with your midwife?

Thank you for your reply. I'm 6 weeks pregnant. I hadn't thought to call my midwife!!

I think 6 weeks is too early for round ligament pain, but the cramping you get as your womb stretches in the first trimester can be pretty horrible.

If you can't got hold of your midwives, you might like to try the Tommy's helpline. www.tommys.org They're really good.

Good luck!

I think you need a scan and serial HCG tests to rule out an ectopic. Hopefully it isn't that but you need it checking. Please do not let them fob you off. Demand an urgent referral to your nearest Early Pregnancy Unit or see if you can self refer. Let us know how you get on.

Yes call the EPU at your hospital. Some pain like cramping feelings (almost like when you know your getting your period soon) is normal but bad pain is not. Or feeling like a mild ache around your ovaries etc.

I had a stabbing pain in my last pregnancy early on, in what I would describe as my left ovary area. It made me sit down as it hurt so much and lasted for about 10 minutes. I wondered about an Ectopic but then felt fine and so carried on and didn't do anything about it. Unfortunately next day I had a miscarriage.
