Headaches - 8+1

Hi all,
Wondered if anyone has any advice? I have been suffering from horrendous headaches for the last week or so. I'm trying to stay hydrated (difficult when I can't face water or many other drinks!) and bought a stick thing for my forehead today which worked for about half an hour.

Advice seems to be mixed in terms of if I can take anything for them. I have my booking appt on Monday and will ask then, but does anyone know in the meantime...?

Thanks,
King x

Sleep! You might have to go straight from work to bed but it’s the best cure for headaches from my experience.

I got them at the same time, would be everyday for a couple of weeks then they stopped. Call your midwife if you're concerned but I found the best thing was a freezing cold compress (I used frozen peas) on the back of my head for the pain x

You should be fine talking paracetamol. I would definitely recommend taking one dose (two tablets - don’t half-arse the first dose!), as knocking it on the head might just fix the problem.

Paracetamol is said to be safe in pregnancy. Obviously the recommendation is to take as little as gets the job done, but I don’t think there are any recorded adverse effects. For a headache of so many days, a full dose is better than continuing to suffer!

Whenever I get a headache that I suspect is due to dehydration, I try to drink something intended to rehydrate. Dioralyte is good, diluted as per instructions. Those lucozade rehydration sports drinks (low in sugar and not fizzy, intended to rehydrate but not give much energy and therefore quite low in sugar - try the citrus one and avoid the berries one, probably) have also helped me. Or you could put a little sugar and a little salt in some water, but that appeals to me not at all! If the problem is dehydration, these might fix that. I’d have the paracetamol at the same time, though - it’s been too long-standing a headache and might need extra help.

I had awful headaches at around 10 weeks op, midwife said it was fine to take paracetamol however the headaches mixed with 24 hour nasea meant i couldnt keep tablets down so the pharmacist recommended calpol 6 plus and this worked in taking the edge off! Fingers crossed they settle down for you soon x

Sorry all, I did as @SelinaMyers said, went to bed then forgot about this!!

Will deffo try a cold compress.

I had my booking appt with the midwife on Sunday and asked her about paracetamol- she said completely safe but I still feel a bit cautious...will use it as a last resort or if I need to function at work!

I had awful headaches almost every day for 12 weeks... sorry but nothing totally helped. Paracetamol was most effective... I usually took one tablet not too. I increased my water intake a lot which did help a bit and it was definitely good for my skin! Fresh air seemed to help a bit too... I noticed it was worse if I was inside all the time. I’d just try everything and hope something helps!!! Good luck
