Not feeling baby move at 21 weeks

Hi all,

I'm currently 21+2 with my first baby (second pregnancy, suffered a MMC at 12 weeks back in April).

I read posts from women at the same stage as me who have been feeling their babies thrashing away like kickboxers for weeks, and yet I haven't felt much of anything. A few pops and flutters, but since I'm suffering from indigestion and trapped wind these 'flutters' could well be gas and not baby. I've certainly not felt anything that made me think 'Ah, that's definitely baby!'.

I had my 20 week scan last week and all was well (although I noticed she didn't move much during the scan....). I DO have an anterior placenta which I understand can cushion movements.

But to not feel anything (or at least nothing definitive) at 21 weeks? Should I be worried?

@TheDayMyButtWentPsycho, I include it so people can better understand my anxiety/worries. Didn't expect it to be the source of such confusion nor do I really understand why the question needed to be asked.

Anyway, thank you everyone. I'll contact my midwife if I'm still not feeling much by 22/23 weeks. I have been feeling flutters and little pops but again, nothing I could definitively say is baby!

@CobaltRose96 good idea. You probably are feeling her but it’s so light you’re not convinced. I’d definitely speak to your midwife whenever you need some reassurance or you’re worried- you have everyone here for emotional support too- we’re all in the same anxious boat xx

I didn't feel mine move until about 22/23 weeks and even then, it was very infrequent! But obviously, if you are worried, just have a chat with your midwife. They can do a quick heart beat check for you. Takes no time at all!

In my first pregnancy I felt a few flutters but nothing definite until over 21 weeks when baby kicked me in the bladder. (Anterior placenta also.)

@CobaltRose96 every time I'm looking for a thread similar to how I'm feeling you're always on it! We must be in a very similar position just now.
I'm 21+5 and not feeling loads. My placenta is anterior too.
If I'm sat still for ages (having an early night and just reading in bed for example) I can feel what I think are little movements. But nothing definite during the day/when I'm moving. What's annoying though is I started to feel these little "pops" weeks ago. But they definitely were not as often as now. Or as strong.
I'm hoping that changes soon. But I'm glad for all the reassurance on here x

I had an anterior placenta in both pregnancies. The position of it in my first pregnancymeant I felt movement just a handful of times the whole pregnancy. The second time, I had to lay or sit really still even much later on. It’s so much harder when the placenta is at the front and you do end up having to find your own normal. 21 weeks is still early though.

20 weeks and also anterior placenta.. it's only the last week or so I've been feeling the odd little kick and movements mostly when I'm lying down at night I was always worrying.. aslong as you've seen or heard a good strong heartbeat try not to worry just be patient they will come it's different for everyone x
