Feeling very low.... developed a small pile with DS1's labour which cleared up quickly and then never resurfaced in DS2s pregancy and birth. 35 weeks with DC3 and have an enormous and ugly pile which is very very painful.
Its so bad I can't sleep at night.
I know I need to go to the Drs tomorrow as over the counter creams aren't helping.
Have been next to all use all weekend with kids and DH has had to step in (and its fathers day and he got no lie in etc) and DS1&2 (3 and 22m) don't understand why I can't do anything with them. Even walking is painful.
I am not sure I can cope with another 5 weeks of this.....
Feeling guilty for being pathetic and no fun and another long week of solo childcare looms....
Help......
PS sorry to be so depressing

I had this for my 2nd pregnancy. Felt like my backside was splitting in two (sorry if tmi). Found that frequent applications of Anusol seemed to make it more bearable (and also ice cube up the rear!) I know it's hard, but try pushing it back up when you are on the toilet and then get up. It'll probably pop back out before you get back downstairs but sometimes it might not. Hang in there. Mine disappeared after the birth but my dr was quite unsympathetic when I went to see her.

Thanks FioFio I guess I am getting to that point in pregnancy when I can't remember why it seemed like a good idea at the time!!

Hi Happypiglet

I had the same thing at your stage but i also had a few bleeding cracks (my pregnant brain didn't even consider that washing using a Dove exfoliating soap on a pile was not a good idea!! What a fool - and even worse it took me 3 days to realise )

They really improved before the birth, i had about 2 baths a day (it was the only thing that soothed them) with salt and i used vaseline. It didnt disappear completely until after the birth but at least i could walk again!

Good luck with it all, take care xxx

im waiting for mine to arrive,! last 2 pregnancies they appeared in last few weeks so i know exactly how you feel. Try popping it back up whilst you are in the bath- much easier, less painful and more likely to stay.

So much sympathy hp, and I can do something practical to help. I will CAT you if you like - I am quite evangelical about amoils (www.amoils.com) and have enough left of a bottle of the one for piles during pregnancy/while breastfeeding to last you a few days while you decide if you like it enough to order some from them. Don't worry, it is totally hygenic and hasn't been anywhere near my arse! And it smells divine. Anyway, let me know if you want me to CAT you and I will.

By the way, as it says on the website, their remedies always always work! And they are totally natural. ANyway, let me know, your GP may well have something super-duper to offer on prescription.

everexpandingtum · 17/06/2007 23:09

had a similar problem (although not as bad as i don't have dcs to look after when feeling awful - poor you). My GP was amazing and said if it got worse and cream plus husk drinks didn't work that i was to come back.he said it is a myth that there is nothing that can help you in pregnancy and that there are things they can do to help (i think it helped that his wife had experienced it - i'm sure she was gld he told me!). So anyway, persevere witht the doc! Good luck. mine got better.

Thanks everyone!
Been to see the lovely practice nurse this am and she has prescribed me a cream with a steroid in and an antiseptic to numb the pain (thats what I need most!!). Apparently they are thrombosised (!?) (The piles that is)
Plus my lovely mum has come round to help with the DC!!
Unfortunately the drs haven't got the cream in so I have to go back later.... but at least I feel there may be light at the end of the tunnel (so to speak)...
Thanks Lio for your very kind offer- will see if this cream does the trick first- I have to go back on Friday for another check up...

hiya happypiglet, i can totally sympathise with you. i had piles like a bunch of grapes after the birth of my 1st child. i found ice cubes in an old sock would be of some relief! i am 37 weeks pregnant with no 2 and dreading that pain again! i am also feeling rather miserable right now as have a big baby and everything hurts! feel really guilty that i can not run around with my 2 year old son! hoping this one will come early! really hope the doctor can prescribe something for you! good luck and chin up! xx

OK hp, will keep checking the thread, but hope this cream works for you, I remember the pain well and it is dire
