Had a sudden craving for it after extensive googling I just don't know! Some say blue cheese is fine others say avoid even if pausterised! I think reading between the lines it's a no but can anyone make my day & tell me otherwise? Grin

Well, you can eat anything you want and lots of people do and their babies are fine. Smile

But I think the guideline is against soft or wet cheeses. So technically probably not. Stilton's fine though. Or you could have it cooked?

I have eaten castello soft blue cheese and have been fine, read that as long as it is pasturised it's fine. Also have eaten stilton, If you want it that badly go for it! I think it's more when you buy the over the deli counter cheese or like with the meats buying directly from a butchers etc as packaged supermarket stuff is done differently than buying cheese, delis etc over the deli counter x

Blue cheese is not recommended in pregnancy unless cooked.

Check the packaging, if it's pasteurised it's fine (I imagine it will be)

This has totally prompted me to get some. I'm 37w pregnant and totally love the stuff! Yum

faeriequeen · 29/10/2018 15:13

It's pasteurized so I think you're fine.

dementedpixie · 29/10/2018 15:14

No blue cheese isn't recommended unless it's a hard cheese. Soft cheeses aren't recommended whether pasteurised or not due to being moist which is a good breeding ground for Listeria. Soft cheeses are ok if cooked though

Can you cook saint agur?!

Hah I ate some of the spreadable st agur today and I’m now freaking out over it a bit! I’m sure I’ll be fine but I’m getting really worked up about it!

Pebblespony · 29/10/2018 16:32

I think the mould is the problem, not the cheese itself. The NHS website has a list of things not recommended in pregnancy which is very handy.

Pebblespony · 29/10/2018 16:37

Sorry, I stand corrected about the soft cheese. Bit bad considering I'm pregnant Blush (Not a soft cheese fan though)

Chocolatebanana1 · 29/10/2018 16:43

I think it'll be absolutely fine. I'm 99% sure if I ate it nothing would happen! But that's 1% of me says not to be ignorant (especially as it DOES say it on the NHS website who aren't normally known for being OTT) just gonna have to wait for this craving to pass! Bloody hell! Halloween Angry

Can you not bake it in the oven until it's hot and then dip crusty bread in or make some sort of sauce out of it?

Chocolatebanana1 · 29/10/2018 18:22

@dementedpixie that sounds like something I could DEFINITELY do!
