Uncomfortable stomach 5-6 weeks pregnant

Hi,

I've had a bit of stomach ache for three days now. I've googled every website I think but it's not like the most common answers. It's not cramps, it's not shooting pain or stretching. It's like a mix of feeling like I've eaten a really big meal with a bit of indigestion/trapped wind kind of feeling. It's mainly on my left side. I was hoping it would be fine this morning but I still feel it, even though I was starving/empty stomach rumbling I still felt "full" and uncomfortable.

I think, well I know I am extra paranoid due to an ectopic pregnancy 5 years ago - I had very bad stomach ache which felt like I needed the toilet but it progressed very severely and was painful to walk. (Tube ruptured at 8 weeks) This isn't really painful, I keep prodding to see if I have any sore areas but no just a general overall feeling of uncomfortableness - like taking a deep breath is a bit of an effort.

Anyone else experienced similar?

Yes! I've had so many aches, pains and wired discomforts in that area, but this one is particularly familiar. For me, it's that I'm getting horribly bloated every time I eat anything. Apparently, it's caused by progesterone, which relaxes your uterus but also affects your digestive system. I'm now 17 weeks and it's still an ever present part of my day. Unpleasant, but not worrying.

That said, it's worth talking to someone. Particularly with your history, I don't think you're healthcare professionals will mind you wanting to check it out.

I just got my BFP this week and I feel exactly like that! I hope it's normal. When I went to the pharmacy to buy a second test to confirm it, the pharmacist actually told me that she was at the same stage and felt similar (I live overseas in a country where it's normal to be very open about early pregnancy - can't quite get my head around it).

Personally, I’ve had 5 kids and with each one massive bloating, plenty of wind etc. It’s probablt a mixture of stretching and also, once your pregnant your digestive system slows right down, so food absorption is more effective. This can cause bowels to change a bit ie ( as in consistency of what’s passing through etc) one min runny, next constipated etc. The joys of motherhood hey. It will settle down but if I were you, if you get worried just see gp. Don’t risk worrying. Who cares if they think you’re a pain in the bottom. You’ve got 8 months left, then all will be forgotten xxxx Congratulation xxx

OP, I've been suffering this exact same thing. I believe it's trapped wind. If I lie on my back and apply pressure to my tummy with my hands, it helps me release the wind. Also, on all fours, move your chest towards the floor and it helps.

Thanks so much everyone.

I've been to the toilet this morning and I feel a bit better so I'm hoping it will ease off a bit today.

I've got a private scan booked for Weds when I'll be 6+1 so if I can just remain calm for a few more days hopefully that will reassure me one way or the other.

Sorry some of you are also uncomfortable but glad to know it's quite common also. I'll update later with how my stomach is feeling.

I had absolutely horrendous bloating the first couple of weeks (was 4-6) it’s a little better now I’m in week 7.

Will keep everything crossed for you @tiredmama. Your anxiety is totally understandable given your past experience - hopefully your mind will be put to rest on Wednesday. Hope everyone feels a bit more comfortable soon!
