Early ligament pains?

Hi all. I have been getting pains in left ovary kind of side when I sneeze/cough and general period pain type aches. Went to the doctors re pains after I realised I had a positive test and they examined me and said tummy felt fine so not concerned about ectopic. Does anyone else have pains like this where you just want to suddenly grab the area and go ouch if you stand in a certain way or cough etc? I will only be a few weeks.

Yes! I’m nine weeks and if I cough a certain way or sneeze (especially if I try to hold the sneeze in) I get a sharp pain, usually on my left side!

anonmum22 · 27/10/2018 07:24

@Iswallowtoothpaste oh I'm pleased it's 'normal!' and someone else is having it too. It can be so painful! Is it ligament pain?

I'm 25 weeks now but had a lot of sharp pain in the early weeks. I was really worried but things start stretching after a few weeks so it's normal. You did the right thing by ruling our ectopic.

anonmum22 · 28/10/2018 17:58

These ligament pains are just so distracting! It's not turned into a constant ache and weird tingly stretching burning sensation. I'm so uncomfortable already with them. Ah dear, only 8 months to go!! Ha!

Currently lying here massaging my left side and googling ectopic pregnancy. I'm 10 weeks and know it's ligament pain really but just worrying a bit

anonmum22 · 28/10/2018 19:49

@mellongoose when I saw the doctor he pressed on my stomach and said if it was ectopic then it would be extra painful when he pressed in on one side.

I think I'm only around 5 weeks at the moment. I just feel like I have deep period pains at the moment and really uncomfortable

Thanks @anonmum22

They are already starting to subside after a rest. I believe it was ligament pain and gas but blimey it was painful for a good couple of hours!! Not what I'd remembered from last pregnancy.

mellongoose · 28/10/2018 20:20

Hope yours get better soon.

Pebblespony · 28/10/2018 20:28

I'm 10 weeks. Been having them for a while. This is my second. They started wayyy earlier this time round.

anonmum22 · 28/10/2018 20:38

@Pebblespony this is my second too, maybe that explains what's got me worried that it's started so much earlier for me too. Good to know thank you. How are you feeling about having a second?!

OP posts:
crakpot1 · 28/10/2018 20:42

I'm the same! And started way earlier this time.. I wonder why? You would think it's already stretched once it should be easier ?! Not sure if my logic is off there tho! Lol

Verbena87 · 28/10/2018 20:44

Sounds exactly like my experience. Baby is now a strapping one year old and was not ectopic (in fact, he got so comfy in there I didn’t deliver til over 42 weeks, but that’s a whole other story ShockWink) - I think it is quite normal

shallichangemyname · 28/10/2018 21:00

I had this on my right side and it went on for months. I used to have to hold my bump up when I was walking. I can't remember if it was my 2nd or 3rd pregnancy (last one was twins so perhaps that's more likely).

anonmum22 · 28/10/2018 21:16

@shallichangemyname oo blimey months! You have my sympathies.

Eek it's daunting thinking what the next 7/8 months have in store. I'm starting to get a bit anxious remembering how awful I felt the first time round... funny how you only remember those aspects after you decide to TTC!!

OP posts:
shallichangemyname · 28/10/2018 21:28

It was ok. Moving around house and office was fine. But walking from train station/bus stop to office was harder. I didn't exactly have to hold the bump up, it just felt a lot better if I put a bit of pressure on it.
Later when I was bigger I used a pregnancy belt. Like a massive strip of Velcro. The more I think about it the more certain I am that this was the twin pregnancy. I was the size of a small African Dictatorship by the time I gave birth.

Lilbear14 · 28/10/2018 21:38

I have had this but I did used to get it occasionally before falling pregnant too so I've never really worried about it.
Always on the right side too.

Just saw this. I’ve got terrible pain at 6-7 weeks. It’s exactly as anonmum22 described....constant ache and tingling burning sensation. Its particularly painful at one point almost like something like a knitting needle is being pushed into my uterus. I’ve had it for two days now and quite worried. No bleeding but concerned about miscarriage as I don’t really have any pregnancy symptoms. Are you finding the pain goes away? I’m at the point where I need painkillers. This doesn’t seem normal!

pancakes22 · 30/10/2018 13:25

@Apple04 I'm the same and wondering about painkillers. Just stood up and had a really deep pain. I am only about 5 weeks and haven't had any contact from midwife yet so don't know who to call to check all okay. GP did say it was fine but it's just continuing.

pancakes22 · 30/10/2018 14:08

I'm hoping because there are a few of us that's it's perhaps normal? 😣

Apple04 · 30/10/2018 17:17

I hope so. Mine are better when moving about, sitting still is really uncomfortable. Feels like deep sharp period pain now. I’ve had miscarriages in the past and bleeding was first sign. I’m getting worried about these pains as they are persistent which according to the NHS website can also be a sign of miscarriage (even if not bleeding). Arrghh. Wish they would go away so I can stop stressing.
