No periods but still conceived

I'm a little in shock today as I've just found out that I'm pregnant with my second. My first is nearly 11 months so I think my question is two fold. Firstly, I haven't had a period since before I conceived my DS so I have no idea how far along I am. A clear blue test said 3+ but that's as high as it goes? Is there a way of knowing how far along I am without a scan? And I am a little concerned about such a small age gap. Will it be a nightmare? DS has just started sleeping through, help!

Have you been to a GP?
From what I am aware they will take bloods to check HCG levels. Also they probably will send you for a scan because it's more accurate.

I can't comment on the age gap as I've got 6.5 years between mine and 5.5 between youngest and baby that's cooking.

This can happen.
You conceived when your first egg was released (first egg since your last baby). If you hadn't have conceived, around 14 days later you would have had a period. But as the egg was fertilised, you obviously didn't have a period.

Just timing.

I fell pregnant again when my baby was 7 months old. The age gap is close but it's not insane. Your 11 month old will be so much more grown up by the time your second baby arrives Smile

hCG levels don’t really tell how far along you are as they vary so much between women. A scan is the only really accurate way, although if you are more than about 12-14 weeks a doctor may be able to get a rough idea by feeling where the top of the uterus.

Contact your midwife or gp (whatever the procedure is in your area) and explain. It's likely they will send you for a scan to determine how far along you are.

Congratulations!

15 months between mine - it was hard work, but we survived.

Congratulations - once you get over the shock! Smile

Op your last sentance is the key to it not being too hard ime!!
You db sleeps through!!
I have ds's less than 14 months apart, in some ways it's easier than a baby and a toddler!
Working on synchronised naps is a winner in the early months too!
Congratulations!

Your first period comes after your first ovulation after a baby.

So if you get pregnant first time you ovulate - hey presto, pregnancy without a period.

Congratulations!! It'll be fine. It'll be tough at first but then you will have kids of similar ages which will make life much easier as most things they do will be age appropriate for both of them. There's a chance they'll be closer to each other if closer in age too.

You'll also be younger then you might have been otherwise and less knackered! (I'm convinced kids age us!)
