Hi all,

I'm pretty new to this so forgive me if I mess up the acronyms!
I have just found out I was pregnant after going to a walk in centre thinking I had a UTI and the nurse confirming I'm expecting! This will be our 1st after 1 year of marriage. I'm 11dpo and af isn't due for another week so it's VERY early days.

I'm not quite sure what to expect and was wondering if anyone could answer a few questions?

1- We've recently moved to a new area and my drs is still based where I previously lived. Should I register at one near my new home then Risk an extended wait for my 1st appointment? Or should I go to my existing dr, get the ball rolling, then transfer to a new one?

2- Besides the general pregnancy symptoms, my stomach is quite tender and poking out a little and I'm fatigued... it's also coming up to Xmas season and I'm consious of my work colleagues finding out too soon. Any suggestions to hide this until at least December? I've just taken a promotion Temporarily so feel I have a lot to prove.. if I tell my manager to early I don't want it to cloud any decisions to make me permenant as I'll be going off in a few months!

3- What happens next? I know there's a 12 week & 20 week scan but what else? Should I be doing something?

4- Is there anything else I need to be thinking about?

Thanks for reading!

Hi and congrats! I’m still pre-af but have three tests sat in my bathroom all confirming a bfp 😁🎉

We had a mc in June at 10 weeks, but regardless of that outcome the process up to that was straightforward enough. Generally you’re recommended to go to the nurse/midwife about 7ish weeks (some say a week before/after that, but deffo about that time) and they take all your details down about you family history, health etc. So if you registered with a new Doc now, you should be ready for having all your appointments locally 👌🏻

In the meantime just take pregnancy supplements, especially the folic acid, and take things easy.

As for work, unless you’re legally obliged to tell them immediately for your and their safety, then you have plenty time there too. I think you HAVE to tell them 15 weeks before you’re due, but otherwise it’s entirely up to you :)

Hi can I join please I'm worried sick about joining one of these. Iv had 7 loses and 1 ectopic and now I'm pregnant again and got my first scan next Friday! I'm a pee on a stick freak lol so was wondering if us lady can compare to see if mine isn't ok xxx

Hi! I'm 12dpo and due 22 July 2019 which seems like such a long way to go!

One good deflection of questions about drinking I read is to say you're hungover already. Handily explains why you're not drinking and why you look a bit queasy and tired!

I live overseas in DH's country so it'll be easy to keep from my parents (who I'd like to tell in person at Christmas). I don't think we'll be able to keep it from DH's family though as we see them for dinner every night so if I'm sick and tired I feel like they'd notice, although maybe not cause it's only his dad and brothers none of whom have experienced pregnancy!

Anyone got any symptoms yet? I feel a little sick at times and also tired but it seems a bit early to be feeling like that!

Mrscaines1 I got 2-3 weeks on a digital but my other tests still show a pretty faint line. Sorry about all your losses, that must be really tough.

Hi congratulations ladies.
I just found out yesterday. I'm due 20th July.
Is anyone else in total shock? My DH is so excited but it doesn't seem real to me

KinCat · 10/11/2018 15:33

Yes! Now that we've made a baby I feel so unready for it! Like what do you do with a baby? We've only ever had cats!

I think it'll be fine though. After we got each of our cats we had an "oh shit what have we done?" moment but now we wouldn't be without them. A baby's not much different, right?!

Boo2you · 10/11/2018 16:15

Congrats - I moved to 3 different cities whilst I was pregnant if you go and get booked in with you midwife at your current doctors provided it's in the same city they should be able to use you hand held notes which should mean it shouldn't delay things too much when you switch! I had to get booked in 3 times coz each city had their own way of doing stuff plus I ended up having loads of scans coz they all wanted to do their own!

Boo2you · 10/11/2018 16:15

Also you should be taking folic acid and vitamin D

Boo2you · 10/11/2018 16:22

@KinCat - don't worry the thing about being a parent is you don't know how to be one until you are - There's no handbook, or course or anything that prepares you or really teaches you how to do and every baby is different you have to learn on the job so you'll work it out as you go!
