Sorry if this is in the wrong place! Trying to decide between a few travel systems and wondering who has experience of them?

  • icandy strawberry - lovely and light and compact, large basket
  • Cosatto Wow - just love the design, large basket and wheels
  • Ickle Bubba Stomp V4, lovely design and has everything included (car seat and isofix) for 499 on one website

Any guidance very welcome!

In my honest experience, I would not bother...!

I wasted money on getting a travel system. He was my first born, I was excited about it and the convenience of it, but turns out I didn't actually use it as much as I thought I would!

It is a complete faff putting things apart and together again, and when they grow out of the car seat, you then have the other parts you are left with the carry cot which they don't last in either as once they start sitting, they will not need it anymore.

I would just get a simple stroller. I got a second hand one for £40 and I just wish I didn't bother with a travel system! Stroller, get some foot muffs to keep them snug in the winter, it lays down as well so baby can go sleep... has windproof and rain proof cover to put over it, smaller and easily collapsible so just so much better!

It's your choice. But I wouldn't buy a travel system again if I ever did have more children.

We did think this! But what does baby go in before they are big enough for stroller? I read car seats aren’t recommended for any longer periods?

Some strollers have attachments for the newborn stage. Sometimes they call them cocoons.

The mountain buggy nano is good. (I have the double version) It folds up small and you can use it from birth (with the cocoon attached). I believe you can also buy adapters and use some car seats with it. It folds up so small and flat.

Also the Babyzen Yo-yo you can buy a cocoon for newborns. And you can get adapters to fit most car seats. It's quite expensive, but I love ours. It looks great and is the lightest thing to push. Also folds up tiny

I also bought travel systems (bugaboo donkey and icandy peach) but I gave the icandy away as it was too heavy. And the bugaboo donkey sits in the garage and hasn't been used for months as it takes up so much more room in the car!

I agree with PP. I bought a cosatto giggle and I gave it away when DS was 8mo as it was just too big. Couldn’t fit it on buses with ease, didn’t fold and fit in the boot with ease. Id maybe look at an armadillo flip with a thick winter footmuff, they parent and rear face and lie flat so can be used from birth.

I guess it depends on your cicumstances. My DD is 13m now and we still use our cosatto wow system everyday. I really like it and would recommend it. The pushchair is so much better than just a stroller IMO because in a stroller (DM and MIL have these) she still slides down a lot and the recline isn't as comfy looking and she prefers being higher up to look at things and I like that it can rear face or forward face in it. I'm still using the car seat as she isn't at the weight limit yet and I'm not looking forward to not being able to clip the next one on to the wheels for those convenient moments when shes sleeping and I dont want to disturb her by taking her out of her seat. Loved the carrycot too when we were using that.. she napped in it downstairs a lot in the early months. Like I said.. just my opinion and probably depends on what you tend to do with your days etc but I wouldnt be without mine. Enjoy choosing, happy to answer any questions about the Wow!

I've got the Armadillo Flip XT and really rate it. If you're anywhere in Yorkshire there's a mamas and papas outlet in Huddersfield where you can get them refurbished. We bought ours for £199 for the pram, then bought a maxi cosy car seat separately for about £90. Hadn't intended to get the carrycot as the pram is suitable from birth and we have a sling for the first few months, but when we went to buy they had an offer on so the carry cot was free! So we got the whole travel system (including adapters) for just over £300! Currently still pregnant, but the pram is being used for my 3 year old and I love it!

Thank you everyone! Food for thought ☺️

Re icandy peach not surprised you got rid, we tried it in the shop and it was such a beast!

Travel systems are really individual. I have the icandy Peach and love it! Have used it everyday and DS is now 2.4. Now DC 2 is on the way we just bought the adaptors for £75 and we have a tandem.

I would say try them out in real life as much as possible and pick the one you think will work best for you in your particular circumstances. Contrary to PP I very rarely put DS in a stroller as he likes to be parent facing still. There isn't a right answer to the pram conundrum!

happychange · 21/10/2018 11:01

We got a bugaboo cameleon but it was so big and bulky that at 4 months we swapped to a babyzen yo-yo and never looked back!

hammeringinmyhead · 21/10/2018 11:13

We've bought a Cosatto Giggle 2. No baby yet but I wanted one where the car seat clips onto the wheels. I drive so no need to worry about buses and it fits in the boot.

We're going to use the carry cot part as a Moses basket downstairs.

bubbles092 · 21/10/2018 11:34

Newborn babies are fine to go in strollers as long as it can recline :o) you can always sit it up ever so slightly as well if they're awake, very handy especially after they've been fed so it reduces reflux.

Pushchair like Joie Nitro is suitable from birth. Good luck with whatever you choose. Shopping for baby things is exciting! X

We're going to get a travel system because we're moving house (well countries in fact) under a month after baby is born. Nothing like timing! I'm thinking the travel system will work best as we can use the carry cot as an overnight sleeper - obviously will buy one made for this purpose. I figure it'll be easier to get that in the plane than an actual cot. I think you need to think about what will work best when you're tired and over busy.

RedDrink · 21/10/2018 12:27

I can count on one hand the number of times I've used the carry cot with our travel system. It's easier to just put her in our Bjorn baby carrier instead.
