Health Assessment - Is it safe?

Hiya

Works are giving everyone free health assessment thingies and we can "earn" brownie points if we change our lifestyles etc. Was just wondering (a) if it was worth me doing it at this stage and (b) if the tests are safe to do during pg.

Firstly, my appointment is at 2.20pm on Monday but I'm not supposed to eat or drink anything other than water for 8 hours before the test. This means i'd have to eat breakfast BEFORE 6am, but i dont get up for work til about 7am!!!

The tests are as follows:

Height
Weight
Hip Measurement
Waist Measurement
Blood Sugar
Cholesterol
Resting Heart Rate/Blood pressure
Lung Capacity
Body Fat Percentage

Obviously the hip/waist/weight is going to be pretty much irrelevant, i would have thought. Not sure about starving myself from the night before tho!

Any advice would be fab.

PS - I'm not overly fussed about doing this assessment thing. Think i'm more worried about NOT eating breakfast or lunch til about 3pm!!!

I'm sure they'll understand that you can't starve yourself RG. I'd offer to do it when you goback from maternity leave

Yeah i'm thinking i might just cancel the appointment anyway.

I did email them and ask if all the tests were safe during pg, but surprise surprise, no response yet!

I'd be more bothered about the starving yourself bit- can play havoc with you and make you faint and all sorts. Can't see that any of the tests would be dangerous as none of them are intrusive- but the fasting would be an issue.
Could you ask them to reschedule for first thing in the morning and then at least you can just be a bit late with brekkie and not have to starve

RGPargy · 15/06/2007 16:02

Nah sod it. I've cancelled it til i'm back from mat leave.

none of the tests are dangerous but all of the trhings that are measured ca change in pg so the tests would be pointless anyway.

I did think that they would pretty much be pointless at this stage. They said that they wouldn't measure my body fat but would still go ahead and measure my waist/hips and weigh me!

The logic behind that is...... ??? Especially as i'm going to be getting heavier and my waist and hips will be getting huge!!
