Hi all,

I've been off work today, I have a severe kidney infection and am very poorly. I've suffered from extreme fatigue and stress at work so generally I just feel like crap anyway but this has really knocked me for six.

Before I got pregnant I was on a written warning at work due to my absences (I was off a lot due to my depression/anxiety last year) and was told if I was off again there could be potentially serious action (dismissal?)

Anyway, I'm extremely worried that I'm going to get back to work to be dismissed, the thought of which terrifies me and makes me so anxious.

Would this be considered a pregnancy related sickness or not? Does anyone have any experiences like this?

I'd appreciate some of your thoughts, I'm really stressing out about it!

Thank you x

Pregnancy related absences should be recorded separately from previous absences, I'd ask your midwife if this would be classed as pregnancy related. In addition, past a certain point in pregnancy (I think it's around 25 weeks) even if they were to dismiss you, they would still be liable to pay you your maternity pay, so I would suggest if you're past this point it would be in their best interest to stick it out with you at least until your maternity leave x

Ah thank you, it is a weird one. I have had sickness as well on top of this. I’ve not got a good feeling about what they will say but I will have to see.x
