In a rut in the evenings

I'm 32 weeks pregnant and finding it hard to have energy to do anything after about 5pm each day. I'm so lethargic and not nice to be around as all I can do is sit around. I also can't stay awake past about 9pm at the moment due to pregnancy fatigue.

My DH sometimes goes to the pub, but it's really not what I feel like doing.

I'm on maternity leave so am home most days, trying to get the house ready for baby's arrival.

Does anyone else have this issue and any suggestions of something to do in the evenings that doesn't require too much energy that will get me out of the house?

Lol I feel like this at 18 weeks it’s bonkers and really not great haha what to do. Rest up whilst you can I guess!

I’m 33 weeks and shattered in the evenings! I don’t know about getting out of the house so much as I have no energy for that (and I’m still working which means I am out in the day) but I’m trying to do nice things at home - snuggling up on the sofa watching box sets in our pjs is a favourite, as is nice warm baths.

On my days off I try and nap in the afternoons so I’m a bit more awake in the evenings and then we sometimes go out for a meal together.

I’m going on mat leave in a couple of weeks and I’m planning to take up swimming at our local pool after that to try and get a bit of gentle exercise, maybe that or a pregnancy pilates/yoga class might be an option for you?

I'm 18 weeks but I could have written this...I'm off sick as really struggling with the sickness but I literally just fall asleep all the time

I'm feeling the same. I'm enjoying making a cross stitch for baby's nursery and also watching lots of Netflix! Have you thought about joining a pregnancy yoga or swimming class? I'm looking for something in my area. X

Ah yes, pregnancy yoga or aqua class is a good idea, I do get put off by going out when it's getting so dark in the evenings now.
I guess @snoopy18 what you say about rest up while we can is a good tip, we will need all the rest we can get when the babies come !

Only 15 and 6 here, but very much the same. I'm very much an extrovert. If I'm on my own for the day, I go a stir crazy by the evenings but I'm either too tired, sore or nauseous to go out.

So I make people come to me. They don't expect my usual standard of hosting and some people are nice enough to bring dinner. I may end up going to bed before everyone leaves but at last it keeps the crazy at bay!

I am so glad to see that at 16 weeks I'm not the only one still feeling really sick and exhausted. I had really hoped to be feeling better by now and have more energy but when the kids go to school and nursery all I want to do is sleep lol x x

ChaosMoon · 19/10/2018 11:55

@Singlemummyto5 me too! I naively had it in my head that I'd feel at least a bit better by now. But this is the first week I've had to take actual time off sick as I was too ill even to work from home! You are my hero for managing this with kids. I don't even have that excuse!

Singlemummyto5 · 19/10/2018 14:07

You would have thought after 4 kids I would have learnt lol they say the second trimester is when you should be 'glowing' and 'feeling wonderful' I have yet to see evidence of this haha fingers crossed for next week lol

I’m almost 38 weeks and have felt this way pretty much right throughout. There’s only a handful of evenings where I’ve felt up to going anywhere. For the majority of the pregnancy I’ve wanted to die at home.
