Vaccinations and glucose test?

Hi,
I’m due to go for a glucose test on Tuesday and it’s an early appointment - 8:45.
I’ve also been advised to have the whooping cough and flu vaccinations and my midwife told me that i could have them at the same time, in a different arm each.

I was just wondering, is it possible to have the jabs done after the glucose test? Or will it affect the results? I have the day off work and feel that it would be easier to get everything done in that one day but obviously there’s no point if it would cause complications.

Thank you!

If you have the test first how can the vaccines affect it? The only thing is that if you are stressed about having the jabs then you're blood sugar will be higher

Yeah unless you're super stressed about the jabs, there's no reason (I don't think) for your GTT to be affected.

Take a book though. Longest fucking wait ever.

Just been through the glucose test today. It’s so early as it’s a fasting blood test, so no food from 8.30 night before. Definitely definitely be on time (or early!!) as the quicker your first bloods get done, the quicker you can have the drink and start the 2 hour wait. Flu jab and whooping cough shouldn’t affect your blood sugars in that 2 hours, if you are concerned just ask the bloods team when you have the 1st set done at 8.45. Today they said I could only have sips of water after the drink as too much would dilute the result, so if you are thirsty, drink before your bloods are done! I was allowed water, tea without milk or black coffee after 8.30pm last night but as I don’t drink tea or coffee it was just water! Also, take food with you as you can eat straight after 2nd bloods - I scoffed a banana and cereal bar right outside the blood department at 1115!

The guidelines also differ a bit depending where you are, I had to fast from 10pm and wasn't allowed tea or black coffee. Our hospital also offered us sandwiches after the second bloods, although it's still good to pack your own food just incase.

The jabs made my arms sore for a few days, the whooping cough jab made my arm really sore but the flu one not as bad. I don't think I would want one in each arm at the same time. It could make sleeping very uncomfortable. If you have them after the glucose test you should be fine and they probably wouldn't offer it then if it wasn't ok.

Ugh I’m off for my second glucose test this pregancy tomorrow as my results were lost. I’m dreading it. I felt very sick and dizzy after having my first blood taken the first time- I was actually glad to get to drink the sugary shit. Mind you, the 1st time they left me waiting until 10:30 before taking any blood meaning I had to wait until 12:30 for the second blood to be taken. I arrived at the hospital at 8:30...horrid
