I've had to phone in sick again 😞 I've been up all night being sick and tbh just couldn't face going in today 😓 20 weeks the sickness hasn't stopped and I'm genuinely just exhausted working on a extremely busy nhs medical ward 😓 I had to take 3 days off = 34.5 hrs last as i had a UTI that completely floored me 😓 going to phone occupational health today for Advice as I haven't had any risk assessments etc done I'm still doing majority of the heavy lifting and I'm just soooo fed up! My contracts due to be renewed and I'm scared that it won't be because of all my sick days! Before pregnancy I would never have dreamed phoning in ill and would have just got on with it but now it's as if I've given up! My moods are low on my days off I don't even brush my hair or get out of bed 😭

I would personally go to your GP and get a sick note. That will cover you for your sickness! Employers are supposed to follow the rules, but they don't. They will simply put unauthorised absence, even though it is pregnancy related! So get a sick note and give it to them ASAP. I hope you feel better soon! Thanks

I suffered with HG... 38 weeks and constantly feel nauseas. My sickness started before I even knew I was pregnant. By 14 weeks it was impossible to get through the day let alone been at work too. I went to my GP and got a sick note, and some anti sickness tablets... ended up in hospital on a number of occasions. I’ve not worked since I was 14 weeks pregnant. I hope you feel better soon. Xx

Definitely speak to Occ Health, you should have had a risk assessment by now and you should not be doing heavy lifting. I work in a clinical role for the NHS and mine was done at about 16 weeks - no heavy lifting/patient transfers, no exposure to infectious patients (e.g. suspected meningitis) and violent patients, they also sorted my whooping cough and flu jabs for me. I also came off night shifts after 28 weeks as it was too tiring.

I would also recommend seeing your GP if you haven’t already to see if they can prescribe you something for the sickness and do a urine dipstick to make sure you are not too dehydrated and don’t have another UTI. Hopefully they can get the sickness under control for you and get you feeling a bit better.

See if the doctor can give you a note, pregnancy related illness is treated differently in regards to absence triggers etc x
