I know it can be up to 48 hours, but if this was you how long before labour started?
Were you on monitors throughout?
It's not me, I would not be posting on here. Grin

Yeah can be, I was induced with number one had a two day long labour, couldn't eat and was monitored constantly due to the drip it was rough but not compared to what others go through just long and painful, if its any consolation my second shot out!

Lauren83 · 15/10/2018 19:44

First pessary Monday 8am, had a second and third over Monday and Tuesday but nothing happened so listed for a section Wednesday, that was cancelled so had a section Thu 2pm and just before it lost my plug

mscockles · 15/10/2018 19:44

I was induced at 9pm on a Friday evening, and baby was born on Sunday at 3pm Smile

RomanyRoots · 15/10/2018 19:45

Aw, thank you.
I've managed to get to 52, have 3dc, and not have a clue about this.

Pessary in at about 1am, DS born 1.41pm

RomanyRoots · 15/10/2018 19:48

God this is a long time, thank you all for sharing.
We are all unable to focus, waiting on news and just hope they are ok.
Obviously, they don't want us texting all the time, so was looking for an average if there was one.

I was induced at 10pm on Tuesday and DD was here by 4:17pmSmile

Lymphy · 16/10/2018 15:29

@RomanyRoots do we have a baby yet?

RomanyRoots · 16/10/2018 16:15

No, waiting for news, they said second induction at 1.30 pm today.
I'm keeping away as Mum and baby come first and imo they need peace and quiet, not a circus, but secretly wish I could go and give them both a cuddle. I'm refraining from texting all the time too. I hope that gives you all some faith in mil's. Grin

I've been killing time shopping for baby card and a couple of small gifts.
We are giving money to start a savings account for baby.

I was induced yesterday at 3.00pm with my first. They told me it would be a 24-48 hour process. They were going to do balloon but upon examining me my waters broke straight away and so they had to do propress instead. It fell out when I went to the loo so they put another in at 9pm but had to take it out after 30 mins as my contractions had ramped up to full pelt. Went from 3cm to fully dialated in no time at all and baby was born at 11.15pm, just over 8 hours after it started. They said it was very unusual to be so quick for a first timer x

RomanyRoots · 16/10/2018 16:40

Congratulations Sparkles I'm so pleased for you.
Wishing you a speedy recovery and much joy from you wee little baby. Thanksso much for sharing.

I was induced with balloon and then passage, neither worked enough to break my waters. Cervix of steel apparently. Had a section in the end.

Lymphy · 16/10/2018 17:31

You sound like a lovely MIL! I had three peseries begore the drip went up, keep us posted, I love a baby announcement (even total strangers Grin)

RomanyRoots · 16/10/2018 18:34

Thank you so much Lymphy I will.
I had a call just now to go up tonight as they are bored, not sure I'll stay full hour, see how we go.
My ds said 1cm dilated.
My labours were very quick and easy, the type where those who have struggled can't comprehend. 3 dc with a total of 4 hours between them.
Whilst my dil knows this, I haven't mentioned it since the beginning of pregnancy, and won't again Grin
Thank you all for your stories I really haven't heard details of anyone else who was induced, yet I know several women.
It seems wrong to bring it up and ask questions too.
Thanks again, and will update. Thanks

Oh, forgot to mention, I'm cautious to keep them peaceful and quiet as she has pre eclampsia. So that is what I meant by I may not stay long, not that I wouldn't want to.

They'll likely use the pessaries the try and get her to 3-4 cm so they can break her waters. It's really luck if labour starts with just the pessary. I've had two induced labours for blood pressure problems. Both fast and easy (six hours each from waters to baby) but long stays on the ward both times. First was a full week because labour suite was like a zoo and the second was about three days before I got down. You sound like a lovely MIL!

BlueBug45 · 16/10/2018 18:53

From pessary to birth 9 hours 58 minutes. Pessary was removed after 90 minutes due to too many contractions.

I was put on my back randomly to be monitored and that really hurt. I made a fuss so eventually a monitor was put on my baby's head so I could give birth in any position I wanted. (I gave birth on my side.)

Thegirlhasnoname · 16/10/2018 19:26

I was induced at 11am with a pessary which was taken out at about half 1 (I’d got to the point they could stretch to 2cm and because of unstable blood pressure due to pre eclampsia they wanted to break my waters to kick start things). Was put on the drip and gave birth via emergency section at 9.24 that night.

That being said there was a lady on my ward who was induced and had a section 38 hours later because nothing was happening!

RomanyRoots · 16/10/2018 21:19

it does vary a lot then, I supposed I knew this really, but sometimes you here a procedure does a certain thing, so I was thinking maybe being induced made things quicker, but it seems not necessarily.

I am home now and ds is coming back to ours to sleep as they have to leave about 10pm.
We live less than a mile from the hospital and they live about 8 miles away, so nearer and company.

I am in awe of my dil, she is amazing, calmly getting on with it and no complaints about anything.
I told her about the thread and she said she might have a look, but signal isn't brilliant at the hospital.
So if she does manage it, I'm sending my love and very best wishes.

OP you sound like such a lovely woman and MIL. I hope the birth goes well x

sparkles212 · 17/10/2018 07:48

Thank you @RomanyRoots, I am very overwhelmed with motherhood!

I hope you've had some happy news by now x

RomanyRoots · 17/10/2018 20:46

I said I would update, finally contractions every 2 mins, so not much longer.
Didn't hear much from them today so was a bit worried, but just heard now.
We have a 14 year old dd who has just started half term too, so perfect timing Grin
Poor kid has been so excited she hasn't slept for days.
Thanks again for the lovely, helpful posts.

I was induced with my first.
Only needed one pessary. So nothing to invasive.
Admitted to induction ward. Pessary in at around midnight on the Saturday night. No pain, cramps or twinges all night. Didn't have to be hooked up to machines and monitors until I was in established labour. Got up Sunday morning still no pain, had a wander about the hospital a few times, labour still hadn't started. Things kicked off around 8pm, the pain went from 0-60 in no time at all, in established labour and on the labour ward by 9pm, had to stay in bed with constant monitoring once I arrived on the labour ward, DD was born just after midnight.

So the entire induction process took 24 hours. Only 3 hours of that was actual established labour though. The other 21 hours were chilled and pain free, just wandered about the hospital, slept, ate, watched tv, so not a bother. Not too bad at all.
If I'd have been in pain the entire time I was in hospital though it would have been awful.

RomanyRoots · 18/10/2018 15:25

I'm a Grandma, yeh!
Poor dil had a hell of a time in the end though and had to have blood transfusion, as she lost so much Sad

Baby girl born 12.30 am weighing 6lb 10 oz. and doing well.

Good luck to anyone else going through this and thanks for your lovely support and sharing your experiences.
