Why am I not going into labour?

OK so I really don’t mean to sound a miserable cow, I’m a nice person really. But if one more person asks me ‘any sign yet’ or says ‘come on baby’ I am going to hysterically cry! I’m so evil it’s unreal.

I’ve honestly tried everything that everyone has recommended and nothing. I’m keeping a ‘bull’ list and adding it all to it.

I’m suffering terribly with pelvic girdle pain and my mobility is terrible, I’m stuck in doors all the time until someone can take me out like I’m an old age pensioner.

My question is, why haven’t I gone into labour? What starts it? 5 ladies who are due after me have all gone into labour which has just tipped me over the edge Angry

The Midwife thought I wouldn’t make 39 weeks and here I am at 40 weeks with nothing. Then another Midwife tried a sweep last week due to my mobility and pain but couldn’t.

I’m seeing the midwife again this week, can she book a date for me to be induced?

Hi I am currently expecting baby number and know exactly how your feeling. My 3rd dd just did not want to come I tried everything, spent days on a birthing ball, walked miles, tried clary sage and olive oil you name it I tried. We had 4 sweeps in total and had my waters broken and still had to be induced she arrived at exactly 42 weeks. So unfortunately you may just have to wait it out, fingers crossed little one makes and appearance soon x

Babies come when they are ready. Not much you can do except try to enjoy the last few days of peace. Maybe book a sweep with your midwife?

Your body hasn’t gone into labour yet because it’s not ready to, it’s as simple as that really! Mine were born at 40+6 and 40+2.

Mine eventually came via CS at 42+5 after I refused induction, after some non-progressive labour-- it turned out that he was tangled in the umbilical cord and wasn't able to get down fully into the birth canal enough to get everything started, though it all looked normal enough. (He was perfectly healthy on arrival.)

Sorry to hear you are feeling so physically miserable. Avoid the people who keep asking dumb questions. If it's the slightest consolation, as I felt reasonably well in late pregnancy, I did every possible recommended thing to start labour acupuncture, pineapple, sex, spicy food, walking for miles and miles, spending hours a day on my birthing ball and none of it made the slightest difference.

Start making appointments. Get your hair done, get your nails done. Make as many appointments as you can because sods law means you'll have to cancel them!

Thank you everyone. At least I know I’m not the only one who’s fed up with this. I feel bad for being so grumpy or mean with everyone but asking me all the stupid questions and telling me how it’s gone so fast for them or they must know straight away is making me worse!

I’ve decided not to try any of the things that people recommend you to do anymore because I think that’s making me worse when nothing is happening. I have the midwife Tuesday for a sweep and will be asking her then to get a date sorted in case I need to be induced.

I feel for any pregnant lady with PGP 😔
