Success getting pregnant after a laparoscopy to treat endometriosis?

Hi all,
I wondered if any of you have endometriosis and got pregnant after a laparoscopy to treat it? I had one a few months ago and would love some success stories to keep my morale up in my ttc journey. If so-how long after did you conceive? I’m sure lots of fellow endo sufferers would love to hear too. Thanks and hope you have a healthy 9 months.

Yes, I did! But I had ovarian drilling for PCOS at the same time so not sure what was the deciding factor. I was advised that I would be super fertile for the following 6 weeks or so so we dtd as much as possible and I temped constantly. We fell about six weeks after and am now 36 weeks. Best of luck to you xx

I did! I had severe endo that was on my bowel, and my ovaries were also stuck to the side of my uterus... not what you want when ttc. I had to have treatment before my lap that involved having a chemically induced temporary menopause so my hormones were all over the place. Had the operation in mid jan, periods came back mid Feb, then discovered I was pregnant 2nd August. It’s much easier said than done when you’re on the other end but don’t lose hope! I was starting to let it really get to me... going. On holiday helped, we fell pregnant the month after!

Hello, I had a laparoscopy and they found deep endrometriosis. It is in my pouch of Douglas and one ligament can't remember if left or right. They offered me tablets for chemical induced menopause as can't remove as too deep, but I decided against it at that stage as was 34. I'm 35 now and got pregnant on my first go - now 14 weeks.

Thank you all so much for replying -it really gives me hope! Congrats Millypad-I also have PCO but my gyno thinks it’s more of an endo problem and I do ovulate so he hopes it will happen naturally now.

Italianwife-that sounds like you had a difficult journey-I’m so glad you got pregnant after that treatment. Congratulations.

LittleDovelove-congrats. I had an endometrioma removed off one ovary and some adhesions on the pelvic walls. They did find a little on bowel-but left it as they said it could cause complications and shouldn’t impact fertility-it sounds like yours didn’t -so hopefully it will be the same for me!

This is very uplifting -thank you!

I had laparoscopy in June for endometriosis, although mine wasn't severe. Started trying for a baby in November and got pregnant immediately, but miscarried very early on. Got pregnant again in May, and our baby is due in January.

twinky06 · 14/10/2018 12:50

I have... I had endo on my ovary.

I'm now 8 weeks pregnant with a surprise baby

mouse1234567 · 14/10/2018 15:31

Congrats Kay and Twinky. Twinky-may I ask how soon you conceived after your laparoscopy? Thanks for your posts.

Well my pregnancy was a surprise as I've been on the pill. It's been 8 years since my laparoscopy but I wouldn't take that timescale as an indicator.

Everyone is different but the key point here is that it is possible

mouse1234567 · 14/10/2018 19:54

Yes thanks Twinky-I agree. Hopefully it will happen soon-you guys have given me faith!

I'm not aware if I have endometriosis but I do have adenomyosis and we have conceived naturally, currently 7 weeks :) I didn't have any treatment for it. Just a diagnostic lap.
We really didn't think it would happen but it has.

Ceryss · 15/10/2018 21:57

I have, I had the lap & dye done in March and fell pregnant in April

squirrelnutkins1 · 16/10/2018 20:30

Oooh success stories, just when I was feeling super low!

madrush · 16/10/2018 20:35

I had laparoscopy in July, pregnant by November. Stayed on Mirena after healthy birth to avoid endo symptoms recurring then got pregnant after about 4 months ttc (sadly miscarried early) then third pregnancy after 4 months ttc once recovered.

Best wishes and hope you have a happy outcome

milney25 · 16/10/2018 20:45

I had a lap last October and got pregnant on the first cycle afterwards. Had been trying for two years prior to that. I now have a lovely 12 week old.

Wishing you the best of luck!

MrsDash · 19/10/2018 17:51

Great to hear so many success stories. Really gives us TTC with endo hope. I was diagnosed after a lap last month. I have quite bad endo on my bowel and bladder (but not on reproductive organs). I’ve got an MRI and gynaecologist appointment soon to discuss options. I’ve been off the pill for 9 months and had one chemical.

Hi all,
After a few years unsuccessful TTC for a second child I decided to have laparascopy done to remove ovarian cyst and treat endometriosis. It's early days I am still in pain but have real doubts this was a good idea, especially when knowing cyst and endometriosis can return.
Doctors suggested to go on progestetone for 3 months and allow insides to 'drain' or heal with other words. I'm not sure I'd like to wait for another 3 months and have my periods stopped. I read best chances of getting pregnant is straight after laparascopy.
Anyone out there with similar experience, any success stories getting pregnant soon after? I feel down, sceptical and regretful for having gone under the knife and making myself vulnerable.
Looking forward to hearing from you all ladies having gone through the same experience.... God bless xx

SunnySky501 · 28/07/2019 17:41

Hi - I had the same as you, surgery to remove a cyst and stage 3 endo last March and fell pregnant in Oct so have faith! It can be quicker than that to conceive after a lap though. It was never suggested to go on progesterone or anything, just to keep trying but I think if you did go on that it would ‘pause’ things and stop the endo or cyst from returning in that time. Good luck and wishing you a speedy recovery

thisyeargoodyear · 28/07/2019 18:12

I had surgery in Jan for endometriosis and got my BFP in April (only 2 periods in between). Prior to that we had been TTC for 18 months with an anembryonic pregnancy after 7 months of trying. I also invested in a ClearBlue Advanced Fertility monitor in March and fell pregnant on my first month of using it and took up weekly reflexology sessions after my surgery. Good luck on your journey Smile

Potplant · 28/07/2019 18:18

I did. And I had twins.

I'm wracking my brains to try and think about the time between having it and conceiving but I can't remember the exact date. Was within about 6 months.

Viva74 · 28/07/2019 21:44

Hi ladies,
Thank you so much for sharing your experiences, find it all so uplifting and encouraging, worth the pain I'm now thinking. Did any of you had the endo and/or cyst back since? Do you generally feel better in yourselves health wise following the laparascopy?
Thanks again and wishing you all good health and happiness xxx

Eyre89 · 28/07/2019 21:51

I was actually pregnant for my first laporoscopy. And had a 2nd one in December last year and after trying for 5 months am 11 weeks pregnant with my second. Have had it removed from ovary and pouch of Douglas. Also cysts removal.

Viva74 · 29/07/2019 08:30

You were pregnant at the time of laparascopy?! Didn't they test you before carrying the operation? Sorry if I misunderstood. However, great news, it looks like laparascopy works.
Congratulations on your pregnancy, hope all goes well x

Eyre89 · 29/07/2019 11:27

Yeah they were meant to took a urine sample. Not sure what happened. Found out I was pregnant and i assumed around 6 weeks based on having the op and supposed negative and actually feeling up for sex. Had a scan and I was 17 weeks 4 days! I was worried I was having twins.

He ended up coming at 35 weeks but only in hospital a week and has been fine no issues. So I feel very lucky.

I always wondered how they missed it as they just told me one ovary want ovaluting.
