Just didn't want you to feel unanswered!

I measaured 47 at 38 weeks and was promptly induced - didn't work so had a section and he was 9lb 10.5 oz!!

lulumama · 14/06/2007 13:08

a rough guide from my red book suggests around 37 cm if born at term.

OrmIrian · 14/06/2007 13:08

DS#1 was 97th centile I seem to remember (or thereabouts) and he was 10 4 at birth. Lost about a lb in the first week but put it all back on again quite soon.

purpleturtle · 14/06/2007 13:09

Will go and find the red book and let you know.

lulumama · 14/06/2007 13:09

37 cm head circ obviously !!

weight coming up to 5 kl

CarGirl · 14/06/2007 13:10

are you talking weight or height.

DD was 98th centile for weight at 10lb6oz but she didn't hit the height centiles until she was about 4months she was very very very tall and was easyish to deliver.

poppynic · 14/06/2007 13:11

I had a big first baby with shoulder dystocia so they scanned and measured second baby twice to see if would have similar problem. Despite being assured by all concerned at every stage she was a completely average-sized baby she came out larger than her brother at 9'11 - there are just so many stories like that that I really think they can't tell at all.

purpleturtle · 14/06/2007 13:11

Acc ds2's red book, 98th centile looks to be 4.5kg at EDD.

I think that's about 9lbs 12oz

beansprout · 14/06/2007 13:13

Ds was 10lb 5oz (c.4.5kg)

Tutter · 14/06/2007 13:14

thanks

lulu, it was the weight i was wondering about

but tbh haven't really thought about weight until now - only about head, because that's the measurement coming up as unusually mahoosive

they told me that it wasn't anything to worry about because it's the BPD (diameter?) that's big, rather than circumference

Good point cargirl - my DS was tall too - 97/8th centile for height as well if I remember correctly.

TaylorsMummy · 14/06/2007 13:16

poor you, it's making my eyes water just thinking about it!!

good luck!

DebitheScot · 14/06/2007 13:16

ds was 9lb 1oz and was on the 91st centile.

A 37cm head circumfrence is scary. That means a 11.8cm diameter. Fully dilated is only 10cm diameter!!!!

Sorry should I not have said that?

SoupDragon · 14/06/2007 13:18

DS1 was 10lb 1oz and 98th percentile I think. His headwas 37cms.

Piffle · 14/06/2007 13:19

my ds1 was very tall and slim his head circ was nearly 38 no tears nothing
ds2 was 36 and the same no problems at all getting him out

Tutter · 14/06/2007 13:21

piffle [impressed]

My sisters DS2 was 11lb 12oz!!! Off the chart completely. No one had really suggested he might be on the large side throughout the pregnancy, so it came as a bit of a shock! She did manage to give birth naturally though, at home (although had to be transferred after he was born for other complications) Good luck - it's all getting quite scarily near now isn't it

Bodkin (35+4)

niceniki · 14/06/2007 13:27

I was mesureing 2-6weeks ahead if my dates all the way thru with my DS1 and i deleiverd at 40+6 he was 9.6 born, Im already huige with this baby they said im lukin at 10lb + if i was left 2 go term but im being induced at 37weeks! x

CarGirl · 14/06/2007 13:29

yes dd head cm was 37 at birth so her weight was 99th centile and she hit the height centile at 6 months not 4!

lulumama · 14/06/2007 13:29

BPD is the biparietal diameter...ear to ear measurement i think....

anyhoo..don;t forget, babies heads are mouldable, the bones slide over each other during birth and if baby is well flexed and presenting LOA or ROA , then the narrowest part of the head is presenting through the widest part of the pelvis and all should be easy peasy

tutu100 · 14/06/2007 13:31

My ds tummy measured 2 weeks larger than my dates. He was predicted to be over 9lbs but only weighed 8lb 2oz at 40+3. I kept saying they'd got his weight wrong he definately felt bigger than that when I was giving birth!
