pregnant and constipated, causing bleeding

hello,

I'm 15 weeks pregnant and it seems taking progesterone until now (following the ivy) made me quite constipated. It started causing vaginal bleed almost every time I go for number two!
Apparently I have also a polyp in cervix area, which may cause it. But most likely it's a hematoma that's right on the edge of the placenta!
DR said it's ok, quite common but I think he's just trying to keep me calm and see what happens. Since not much they can do about the hematoma that's just next to the baby!

My concern is it may break properly one day, perhaps when I'm trying to go to empty the bowels.

Any thoughts on this anyone? I'm already taking Lactulose (syrup) - didn't help much, and now started FyboGels (with natural husk) but not that great so far.
I will try prune juice next, but if you have any suggestions pease share! Would be much appreciated ;-)

How long have you tried the lactulose/fibrogel for? Can take a good few days to get things working smoothly again. Ask your pharmacist how long to persevere for before swapping onto the other. I used lactulose, it took 5-7 days to really get me regular again and after that I was fine as long as I didn't forget to take it.

Thanks SnowdropFox :) both midwife and dr recommended gels more if I have to take it over longer period of time... so I finished with the syrup 2 days ago. Then added fibre gels, so yes perhaps I need more time for them to become active. Although I have a feeling they're much milder then Lactulose so may take longer to take desired effect..

Drinking more water, eating apples etc doesn't help much.
I'm not drinking much caffeine these days but I find green tea is quite good, although doesn't do the trick completely.
Anyway, sorry to ramble on!
I'm happy to discover it's extra progesterone's fault mainly and more people are experiencing it too, not just me doing something wrong!

When this happened to me I bought a tin of prunes and liquidised it. I drank the whole thing and also had lactulose. I then had the opposite problem for a few days!

hah! thanks for sharing, yes I heard about prunes but haven't tried yet... I think Waitrose even do fancy prune juice or may try your way! trust me, the opposite way is much better and doesn't cause any bleeding which is my main concern (since haematoma is close to the baby..) They don't tell you that IVF often causes them.. my friend had one and took 4 months to be absorbed.. thanks ladies!

I found eating pears and grapes really help along with oats, wholemeal bread or wheetabix. If you can stomach prune juice that works and try and drink plenty of water .

Think I might go get me some grapes.

Have had excruciating cramping pains due to being so constipated twice in 11 weeks. Hubby is an aspiring colorectal surgeon (I suppose at least this means I don’t have to be as embarrassed with him) and has me taking Movicol 1 sachet daily with Metamucil. Think he might be upping me to 1 sachet twice daily as things are moving but only barely just. Bit wary of Movicol as after first episode of pain he gave me 3-4 sachets a day and I had the opposite problem!!!
