Hi,
I’m 30 weeks pregnant with my second child. When I found out I was pregnant is as 17stone and 7lbs which is the heaviest I’ve ever been. It was a bit of a shock but a happy one apart from the worry of being so overweight. Since the day I’ve found out I’ve exercised (lightly) and eaten very healthily (MW happy with everything I’ve done) I’m now 30 weeks and weigh 16.3stone. I’ve tested negative for GTT, my blood pressure gets lower every appointment! And my urine is always fine, I’ve not had any swelling or any issues so far...
I had a MW appointment yesterday and noticed baby is 90th percentile (first born was 50 all the way through and weight 7.8 at 42 weeks, induced) also baby is currently beach.
I’m consultant lead due to my weight but only seen her once so far and I have a MW appointment in 3 weeks.
I have a growth scan booked in for November and I’ll be 34 weeks. If baby is still showing as 90th centile and or breach at that time do you think I’ll be advised to have a c section? And possibly be induced early? Anyone had a similar experience? I don’t mind how they get baby out but I’d prefer to not have a section due to recovery time as I also have a toddler.
Thank you if you’ve read all of the above haha sorry for the long post xx

This probably depends on your hospital and your consultant.

I'm a similar BMI to you and had to argue a bit for a section second time around. (I still get raised eyebrows from hospital staff when they see my notes!). I think it's very unlikely you'll be pushed into a section if you don't want one, although the position of the baby might override that.

I doubt they will do anything or make any decisions until close to 39 weeks, though.

It's unlikely that they will do anything with regards to a baby on the 90th centile - only if they think there is a health issue with you.

My baby was born on the 91st, but he was 2 weeks late. He's since settled in at about 80, which was probably where he should have been had he been on time! If they're on the scale, they don't tend to worry to much. If they're off the chart, that's possibly another matter.

Thanks for replying x
I don’t mind having a section at all (in fact labour the first time round was hell on earth) it’s simply the healing part after I’m a little concerned about with having a wirlwind toddler! I just wondered what the consultant might say, baby is definitely on the line and not off the chart so as long as she gets in position it sounds like I’ll be left until baby decides to make an appearance. Both reassuring and terrifying at the same time haha xxx

My baby is above the 90th centile and I am also overweight. I'm consultant led for other reasons, but they've said to me that they won't induce for a big baby.

They might look at a c section for you if baby is still breech, but that will depend on how baby is lying closer to your due date I imagine.

I was also told that as long as baby grows at the same rate as the line, they're not too worried about where they are weight wise as such.

This might just be my hospital though!

I put on soooo much weight when pregnant. Baby was 95the percentile and breech. I had a c section at 38 weeks. Baby weight has all fallen off now 2 weeks postpartum. I think I was carrying a lot of water.
