Baby measuring small - been referred for a growth scan

I've just been referred for a growth scan as baby is measuring at 34 weeks when I am 37 weeks and I am freaking out.

For two appointments running, I saw my usual midwife who said that if anything, I was measuring big. Then at my last appointment, I had a stand in midwife who said that I was measuring a bit small but not to worry as she may just be measuring differently and it wasn't a big difference. Back to my usual midwife yesterday and she basically gives the impression that it hasn't grown since my last appointment.

Scan is tomorrow morning and I know it probably isn't anything to worry about but I had nothing like this with my first pregnancy so I'm getting myself in a right state every time I think about it. My bump is very low and has been for a while and I've had quite a bit of pelvic pain so it could just be that it's in a dodgy position but has anyone got any reassuring stories they can share to calm me down??!

When you say measuring, do you mean when they measure your bump? If so then I really wouldn't worry, I've been told by midwife that 3cm either side of your weeks is normal and if 10 people were to take your measurements they would probably all come up with different ones. Please take no notice, even the growth scans are highly inaccurate. Do not panic I'm sure everything is fine

Just think of it as an extra opportunity to see your baby tomorrow :) worrying about it now isn’t going to change anything, I measured differently with different people all the way through and now have my wonderful 2 week old baby boy on my lap :)

Both my pregnancies were measuring small and I had to have growth scans-they were absolutely fine. It’s a controversial method that midwives use and my understanding is that it’s not very reliable. Try not to worry. Good luck.

(I am long in the body and that made me think there was more space for the baby to stretch out and therefore my actual bump was never that big-not sure whether my reasoning is a load of rubbish though!)

My second I never measured past 34 weeks. Lots of growth scans etc.

Went into MLU in labour and they panicked and told me I should have gone to the other hospital because the scans indicated baby would be under 5lbs. He was actually 7lbs.

So not only was I measuring small but the scans were also innacurate.

With my third too, I think I measured 37 or 38 cm at 41 weeks, she was 7lb 4

Thank you all for your replies. I know it's only a tape measure and can't possibly be accurate but everything was so textbook with DD so it's really hit me hard that something could be "wrong". I will try to think of it as a positive that I get to see my baby again tomorrow. Haven't had a scan since 20 weeks and that was fairly unsuccessful because of the position of baby.

My midwife said this - then a senior midwife said if baby engages then the bump can all of a sudden measure small! I was 41 weeks and they said I was measuring 35 even though I knew I'd already measured larger.

I had this with ds1. He was 8lb 8oz. My sister had the opposite advice, measuring big, but DN was under 7lbs. Don't worry at all, op.

I had the same, measuring 29 weeks at 34 weeks, and my bump had apparently shrunk from the previous appointment. Growth scan was a nice extra look at my baby, who they estimated would be 50th centile at birth. In fact he was 8lb 12 and 75th centile! Don’t worry at all.
