Low lying placenta and not move up?

Hi Everyone!
I have a low lying placenta, currently at wk 29, and was admitted to hospital last week with brown spotting. Thankfully all ok with me and baby, just been told to be on strict bed rest, take mat leave early and come back to hospital if see any changes ie pink/red/heavy blood. I have a scan at 32 wks to see if placenta has moved up, however they have told me not to be too optimistic. I don't think it would be the worst thing in the world to have a c-section now- many of my friends that have had planned ones had great experience, etc.
Just wondering if anyone else has been through this, whereby placenta never moved up, what was birth like (if had yet), any bleeds, any changes in spotting, consistency, etc?
Would love to hear from you Smile

My placenta didn't move at all , I had completed coverage, I had numerous bleeds, issues with false labour and the like had to have steroids for babies lungs as at 35 weeks they thought they were taking him out, c section was lovely really calm and I was told about everything that was going on

Hi I have no experience of this but I am kind of in the same situation although I am on 21 weeks. And found out at my scan last week that I had a low lying posterior placenta. I've been booked in for another scan at 36 weeks to see if it has moved.

We had a low lying placenta at our 20 weeks scan, had some bleeding at 25 and admitted to hospital where I was given steroid injections to strengthen baby’s lungs. I was told to start mat leave early, basically be on bed rest. We were scheduled for a c-section at week 38 because of a few reduced movement episodes. The birth was very calm and everything went well. Our little girl is now 9 months! Good luck and take care x

I had (partial) placenta previa. I managed a vaginal birth, but it was a close thing. Because it was higher risk, I ended up with loads of medical interventions and monitoring that I’m not sure in retrospect was preferable. They threw everything but a corkscrew at us!

You know what would be worse? Trying for a vaginal birth, then having an emergency csection halfway through. Worst of both worlds.

I reckon I got a bit too caught up ‘hoping’ for ‘normal’ rather than making the best of what I had going on. Of course press them for frequent scans to see if there’s been movement of the placenta, even just so you can manage your expectations. Information is power.

And even though this might sound silly and soft, remember that these tricky placentas of ours are actually marvellous things that are nourishing our babies. Even when they are in pesky positions, and seem to cause us stress. Befriend your placenta! (because stress doesn’t help you or your bub). Good luck!
