Which pram / buggy?

Posting for a friend:

Which buggy would you recommend for someone who is after something fairly lightweight which folds easily? They'll mainly be on foot or by car, not so much public transport. Occasional wood walks but probably not enough to get eg the bugaboo range rover and compromise on weight

They'd like a travel system which has a parent facing option

Budget decent without being ridiculous (ie bugaboo cost OK, £5000 gold plated buggy not!)

I had an Uppababy Cruz which I won't be recommending because it's not particularly lightweight or easy to fold, nor is it great off-road. But for anyone interested it steers brilliantly and has a huge basket which is great if you need to take a big bag or two out with you and fit £50 worth of shopping in it for the walk home plus 10 library books plus a spare cat or two you pick up

Hit me with your recommendations please for which buggy fits their needs. TIA

I'd recommend the Joie Chrome.

Which pram / buggy?

I’ve got the Mamas & Papas Ocarro, not actually used yet though as baby not due for another 4 weeks. We opted for this one due to it being easy to fold and compact when folded to fit in the car. Steers quite well and has decent enough suspension for walking through parks etc although I wouldn’t deem suitable for hill walking etc!

You can get as a complete travel system if you want. Like I said not actually used in practice yet but am pleased with it so far!!

I second the Ocarro. I've been using ours for a year and I LOVE it, really can't fault it.

The Janè buggies are excellent. Well designed and compact. The travel system includes a lie-flat car seat, which was invaluable on long journeys. This can then just clip straight onto the buggy so no issues if baby is sleeping in the car. The car seat also tilts slightly so if the baby has reflux they can be at one of 3 different angles to help digestion. They don't have a great double-buggy option or I would be gettijg that for when dc2 comes along but for one dc they are a great choice.

Thanks for responses so far. More replies much appreciated, especially if you disagree with the above recommendations for any reason - I'd love to hear the reason

Joie chrome has a nice big basket and has been fine for occasional off road walks.

I'm considering the ABC Design Salsa 4. Never tried it but online research looks positive.

I love our bugaboo bee - and it's still going strong after 2 kids and 5 years of constant use. Not sure it's the best for woodland walks (but I've used it for plenty - it's just a bit harder than buggys with bigger wheels. Folds small, travel system, parts are easily replaced, and folds down very easily

overagain · 11/10/2018 13:02

Bugaboo are great, but compact and easy to fold they are not. Unless you get the Bee, which is great for city but not for off road.

MATHEW007 · 12/10/2018 06:43

I cannot recommend the Cybex Balios S more.

One hand fold, reasonably compact fold for such a substantial pram, travel system compatible, off terrain wheels, free stand fold, flip flop friendly brake, one hand adjust straps, huge canopy, big basket, great suspension, lux easy wipe fabric, chic look, parent and world facing, lie flat.

Honestly it's amazing. Pushes like a bugaboo yet fraction of price. Some places have it for less than 300 quid new. Cybex knocked it out the park with this one.

SleepyMcEdie · 12/10/2018 06:48

People alway recommend Bugaboo Bees bit unless you live in the shopping centre with super smooth floors I find them useless!

A Baby Jogger city mini GT is great for parks and country walks. Can get a carry cot for it. I had a Joolz Geo which is great but heavy to lift. Swapped it for the GT.

firsttimemum090 · 12/10/2018 07:25

The city jogger folds with just one hand, I believe.

PBobs · 12/10/2018 07:30

I'm looking at an ABC Designs Salsa 4. I just need to find somewhere to try all these darned things.

This is the one I have and I love it 😍 I live in a flat and I find it easy to bump up and down the stairs it's also pretty lightweight I'd say.. only down side is it doesn't fold with the carry cot you have to separate them and even with the seat part on I personally still can't get it to fold completely flat but it does fit in the boot of my car.
I've also had it in the woods and parks and it handled fine

Peonyblush1 · 12/10/2018 12:26

I’m really indecisive too there’s so many different pushchairs out there now and they’re all really nice.
I had a look at the Mamas and Papas ocarro in the black and gold colour and it looked so stylish and also very easy to handle.

voxnihili · 12/10/2018 15:59

I have the bugaboo fox. I walk approx 25-30 km per week with it. Lightweight and great to steer. I find it fiddly to fold (although I have dyspraxia so might just be me). Folds relatively small though - can get base and carrycot in a fiesta.

voxnihili · 12/10/2018 15:59

Should add - that’s in the boot of a fiesta with the parcel shelf in place.

Boseen · 25/03/2019 14:16

Hey there, which pushchair did you buy in the end? I’m trying to decide between the ABC design Salsa4 and Uppababy Cruz 2017. They both fit our budget x. Thanks
