DaisyMOO has had a home birth , vaginal obvioulsy after 2 sections....it can be done!

NuttyMuffins · 13/06/2007 21:45

I have had 3 sections and would have another one in the blink of an eye.

Each subsequent section was easier to recover from for me anyway, and by the 3rd one I wasn't even nervous, more impatient lol.

I have never had any problems recovering from any of my sections and would be more than happy to have a 4th section but i do think 4 would be my limit.

a lot depends on why you had hte c.s and how strongly you feel about vbac..if you want more info..let me know x

MrsWho · 13/06/2007 21:50

I know someon who had 5 but that was really pushing it.

I have had 2 but the second one was a mess so don't know what would happen again as I think they would have to cut round the uneven bit rather than over it IYSWIM

cutekids · 13/06/2007 21:51

i had 3-each within 12 months of each other too! 1st-probably cos i didn't know what to expect and because it was my 1st baby!- was a doddle.2nd i got sciatica and post-natal depression after.3rd was a doddle again!
strangely enough,my 1st and 3rd were girls and my 2nd was a boy...?!? my health-visitor was absolutely adamant that was the reason too..."you get different hormones with boys"?!?anyway, love em all to bits and had no "bonding" problems etc.which alot of people reckon can happen when you have a caesarian.

I'll be watching this thread with interest. I'm pg with no 3, after 2 cs. No real desire to try for a vba2c - I've planned 2 homebirths now, never even got as far as labour, and I don't think I can face that again. I rather like the idea of writing the cs date on the calendar, and swanning into hospital on the morning of the op...

Had placenta previa (haemorrhage, premature birth etc) last time, and the baby is implanted low this time, so may not be that simple. But I can dream.

But as you say, it does potentially scupper the dream of 4 kids.

My mum had 3 c sections but with the last her tubes were tied as she had lots of problems recovering. However may have been partly due to there only being a 15mth gap between both my sisters.

January. So don't wait for me to tell you what the third cs is like!

My first was a nice calm elective but I only found out I was having it the day before so was still in shock a bit. It was all quite surreal. And the second was a bit of a bloodbath (although the cs itself was ok).

I recovered better from the emergency one where I lost 4 pints of blood than from the nice straightforward elective. So who knows what the next will be like? Mind you, ds was in SCBU so all I had to do was express milk and cuddle him for a week, I didn't even do his nappies...

NuttyMuffins · 13/06/2007 22:13

Tbh i didn't really struggle at all with the other kids after my subsequent sections.

When I had Dd2, Dd1 was 2 and she was very good and patient with me taking 10 times as long to do anything. I got her a little step before i had the section so that I didn't have to lift her onto anything, just help her climb up. Dd2 was in scbu for 2 weeks though which in a way aided my recovery as I didn't have a fat lot to do.

Dd2 was 3 then when i had ds and the hardest bit was that we were still in a first floor flat at the time and I had to get the buggy up and down the stairs, but i managed, and again i maxde sure stuff for dd2 was at a level she could reach to save me lifting and carrying all of the time.

I've had 3 sections and booked in for my fourth on Tues. Consultant doesn't seem too bothered but midwifes wer a bit snotty to me at boking in saying you are only supposed to have 3 c/s.

You can have a normal delivery after 2 c/s it is possible but risky. There is a risk of rupture of the uterus which can deprive thebaby of oxygen and cause brain damage and death to baby and death of mother.

My consultant said he had a patient that had had a home birth after 2 c/s, but he stongly recommended that people dont.

As you had problems last time it prob would be inadvisable to go for a vaginal delivery but a c/s.

If you want 3 or 4 children/ cs try and get an appt with your consultantand don't listen to other health professionals. Midwifes and GPs all told me i cant do what I'm doing right now which is fulfilling my dream of having 4 children
Last one for me though. 4 C/S s are fine it's the pregnancy bit I cant cope with any more

expatinscotland · 14/06/2007 10:10

A former member here had 5.

Caroline1852 · 14/06/2007 10:19

I had emergency c-section with first baby after long labour. Recovery was v difficult. Natural birth for second baby. Elective c-section for third baby. Am now awaiting date for a third elective c-section in the next few weeks for latest addition (4th child). Elective c-section definitely much quicker to recover from than emergency after long labour. I suspect because you arrive well-rested whereas an emergency section after a very long labour where you are completely exhausted and have already lost a lot of blood etc.

Bibis · 14/06/2007 10:25

I have a friend who has had 4 sections, I don't think that it is that unusual. If you present yourself at the surgery and inform your gp you are pregnant what is s/he going to do? Insist you terminate the pregnancy?

I have had two VBA2Cs, but I haven't had a uterine rupture so I was starting out from a diff place.

Marathonmum there is a risk of rupture, around .5% but there is a greater risk of problems through having a cs, each situation is different and each one needs to be assessed individually

zookeeper · 14/06/2007 10:30

I 've had three - the third was lovely - did the swanning in thing and felt very calm. Was first on list and was bfeeding dd by 10am. The recovery was same as first two

I too wondered what they say if you get pg after 3 cs. "I'm sorry Mrs Fruitful, but that one is going to have to stay in there forever" ?
