Do your babies react to loud noises?

Hi! Just out of interest really...I am 35 weeks...not overly concerned but just a couple of occasions recently where sudden loud noises have startled me and hurt my ears a little...I would have expected some sort of movement or jolt from the baby but nothing each time. I can't say I have noticed any movement to noise specifically but I have not really been focusing on it. Just wondered what your experiences are? Thank you!

Not that I remember, lo is buffered by most noise from the amniotic fluid and your body so a single loud noise wouldn't necessarily register with them. From my understanding something as loud and sustained as a concert would though.

I had my baby in China. Towards the final months of pregnancy they put a monitor on me and monitored baby's movements. If baby didn't move enough they would bash a metal bowl and spoon to wake him. Mine resolutely ignored it!

Ds did, I remember going to the cinema quite heavily pregnant and he jumped every time there was a loud sound but with dd I had an anterior placenta and she didn't react to loud noises.

Thanks guys. I do have an anterior placenta so maybe that is making a difference. Trying not to obsess over this as my next thing to worry about!

Mine does! My mum decided to start popping all the balloons after my baby shower and me and my pregnant friend both had to get out because i got a wack with every bang! Was awful haha

Not that I can tell. Babies often sleep through loud noises after they’re born too.

CountessVonBoobs · 10/10/2018 13:35

Neither of mine reacted to noise inside, although they certainly did when they were born.

Yes, with dc1 I was concerned he wasn't moving so I shouted at my stomach. I instantly felt awful as he jumped a mile and I felt so guilty.

If baby didn't move enough they would bash a metal bowl and spoon to wake him. Mine resolutely ignored it! sorry, this made me laugh so much Grin. Picturing a midwife standing bashing a metal bowl and spoon is hilarious Grin.

Mine ignores just about everything, he only moves when he wants to.

Thank you everyone. Makes me feel more reassured. I have tinnitus and have struggled with my ears for a while so think it is just a bit more on my mind. Argh I just want him here and safe in my arms!
