Best pregnancy test?

Just wanting some advice on which pregnancy test to get. Should I get a digital or I've heard first response ones are good?

I got a first response one as I was testing slightly early 10DPO. When the first response gave me a positive it took a few days for the digi to show positive as they are not as sensitive apparently. I guess if you are testing a few days after a missed period the digi ones are ok

hangingshirt · 08/10/2018 04:07

Just to add, I did the first response as I knew I was pregnant but had very irregular periods so I could have been testing early or I could not have been. I only knew it was 10DPO as I did the calculation from my dating scan and I knew the day i got pregnant. I only bought a digi for fun to see the words "pregnant" as I thought it would make it seem more real (it didn't; I'm still in disbelief that I have a child)

destiny1998 · 08/10/2018 04:26

Ah okay I just want to confirm I'm pregnant but I know that if I am pregnant I'll be about a week but if digitals aren't too good at picking early pregnancy up I might go with the first response

In that case from my own experience do a first response. How early are u testing? Have u tested already?

destiny1998 · 08/10/2018 04:56

So basically let me try to explain in a way that won't be confusing lol 😂. I had my implant removed on Wednesday 26th September I'm unsure if I am pregnant if I conceived at the weekend (from 29th September) or if I conceived before I had my implant removed (I'll just add as well my implant wasn't due to come out I only had it in for a year) and I've had a positive test from a first response but I've been told you're not meant to open up the test to see the result properly which is what I did so it's looking like my result counts as a negative and that I might not be pregnant

destiny1998 · 08/10/2018 04:57

Oh and my periods have never been regular on the implant anyway but since having the implant removed 12 days ago I haven't had a period (not even any spotting)

What do you mean 'open up the test'?

It's very early to be testing from 29th September tbh. Could the implant be affecting the test?

destiny1998 · 08/10/2018 07:29

Like open the casing to take out the strip? And could be but I doubt it it made me get positive results while on it so surely that would stop if I had it taken out

destiny1998 · 08/10/2018 07:40

And I can't really win then can I? If not from 29th September then when? I don't have or have never had regular periods so idk. Knowing my luck I'm probably not even pregnant anyway. Idk why I bother

Your body will take some time to adjust after having the implant taken out. It can take weeks some it even takes months.
It is very early to be testing if you are going by the 29th September. Obviously baring in mind that every woman is different I would give yourself a few more weeks before testing. Easier said than done I know.

How irregular are your periods? It might be useful to use an app to track them for a few months. (if youre not pregnant that is)

SockQueen · 08/10/2018 07:57

You've made loads of threads about this. Buy a First Response, don't take it apart, that's all.

destiny1998 · 08/10/2018 07:58

They never happen I've never had a single one in my life and what's the point? I'm not pregnant and can't get pregnant.

destiny1998 · 08/10/2018 07:58

Yeah because I'm not being given any advice whereas other people are getting 100's of comments. Not wasting money on a test if I've been told it won't detect it

Jaxtellerswife · 08/10/2018 08:07

If you've only just had the implant out you've barely had time to make a start.
However, you genuinely could be pregnant still.
The advice is right, but a first response, do not open it up.
I also find the 89p for 2 tests at home bargains have been amazing.
It takes an average healthy couple a year to conceive.
I don't know your backstory but if all is ok just try not to put so much pressure on yourself

Lilbear14 · 08/10/2018 08:18

It's taken me and my OH months to conceive and I hadn't been on any BC for a year prior to that.
You just have to keep on trying. And like I said above it can take your body a while to adjust to coming off any birth control.
You have been given advice but it seems like you're snapping because it's not what you want to hear. People won't reply if the advice has already been given. Which is why you're not getting 100s of comments.
The advice on this thread alone is exactly right. It's frustrating and it does feel like you're not getting anywhere but you have to keep on trying and be patient.

destiny1998 · 08/10/2018 08:23

You know what forget it? Think I'm snapping. You're only acting so calm because you've got kids. You're one of the lucky ones. Just all fucking roast me why don't you? Good to know there's lots of supporting people out there. Don't worry I'll delete this app from my phone.

OP posts:
Lilbear14 · 08/10/2018 08:27

You literally know nothing about me and what I've had to do to have kids...there's plenty of supportive people around, maybe try wording things slightly different and not jump on people when they try to reply and help.

Reccy2018 · 08/10/2018 11:04

Fuck me, this escalated quickly!

Why are you taking the test apart? I don't get it

wimbler · 08/10/2018 11:14

First response have a excellent track record of showing up a positive earlier than other brands. You can get a positive on these tests as early as 9 days post ovulation. However, since you don't know when you ovulated, it may not give you an accurate result. My advice to you if you don't want to keep spending money on expensive tests is to go on amazon and buy some cheap basic strip tests. They aren't as accurate but they will show a positive when you are pregnant and you can then confirm with a more accurate first response test. for reference, I used one at 12 days post ovulation (i knew because I was tracking my cycles but hadn't yet missed a period). The cheap tests I used showed a very faint positive but the first response was very clear and had a dark line.

However, you say you had the implant removed less than 2 weeks ago. Therefore there is a chance that your body hasn't yet ovulated meaning it would be unlikely that you would be pregnant. It may take a while for your body and cycle to return to normal. Every woman is different and this isn't an exact science. There are also tests you can buy to see if you are ovulating (cheap from amazon or more expensive ones are also available from boots etc) My advice would be to wait until 28 days after the removal of your implant and test then. If it's negative, try and wait to see if you get a period as then you'll have a day to work off as the beginning of your cycle.

Good luck
