Terrible insomnia

I'm 13 weeks and I currently have the worst insomnia ever. I have no problem falling asleep but seem to wake up every hour after that. Mostly needing a wee. Then at about 3am I just can't go back to sleep. I really don't know what to do as I'm at breaking point from no sleep. Does anyone have any suggestions? Literally at the point where I'm struggling to function in the day.

I went through the same thing, especially constantly needing to pee which was the main cause of me waking up
but it did pass. I'm now 22 weeks and am managing to get a full night again even though the vivid horrible dreams have kicked in!

I just get up and have a bath, and go back to bed after. I also listen to audiobooks while I’m awake as at least it’s better than just lying there.

It’s so horrible, especiallly when you’re already really tired. I’m 15 weeks and it’s easing off, though my 15 month old is ill and has been up basically all night for the last three nights running which just seems really unfair!!

Thanks! @TinyMarie it's good to know it gets better I don't think I can cope with it for another 6 months!

@lambdroid sorry to hear about your poorly lo. Hopefully your lo starts to feel better soon and you also get some sleep! Thankfully my lo sleeps well but I can hear her fussing in the middle of the night which doesn't help. Usually I'm asleep so don't hear it!

Think I'm going to get into bed earlier tonight and have a milky hot chocolate or something to treat myself. Fingers crossed for a fullish nights sleep!

I have suffered with pregnancy insomnia in all of my pregnancies so I feel your frustration. I'm currently carrying baby 4 and I find getting up and eating a banana helps me fall back to sleep. Like you, no problem falling asleep ( normally about 9 ish) then I wake up from about 1am.. fight it for a bit then finally get up, eat and then can manage a couple more hours.

Might not work for you, but worth a try xx

Thanks @kmreeve . Might give that go. Definitely don't think the peeing all night helps. So strange as in the day I don't need to all the time at all! It's very odd.
