32 weeks and been having on and off groin pain, but I've just hoovered and literally my vagina feels so sore, feels like the bone rather than the flesh of that makes sense, at last appointment baby's head was down. Anybody had the same, getting a bit worried???

Were you holding the hoover upside down?

wimbler · 06/10/2018 14:44

Sounds like SPD. I have it and vacuuming definitely aggravates it (advice is actually to avoid hoovering but that's just not practical in my house!)

BikeRunSki · 06/10/2018 14:45

I’m so glad that comma is in the right place!

Frlrlrubert · 06/10/2018 14:50

I had SPD (or PGP I think they call it now), and hoovering is top of the don't do list.

buscaution · 06/10/2018 14:51

SPD -

emwithme · 06/10/2018 15:07

31+6 and I have now Officially Stopped Vacuuming. It just hurts too much. DH can do it.

Merrydoula · 06/10/2018 15:15

I suppose I better mention to midwife then at next app, is there anything specific they do for SPD or is it just carry on as normal but exclude certain activity

They should refer you to physio. I was on crutches with DC 2 because of it.

Talith · 06/10/2018 15:19

I didn't have SPD but I remember that John Wayne stage in late pregnancy and the achy bone feeling - It was quite close to the end for me so I'd definitely recommend seeing your midwife just to make sure things aren't on the move already! And defo no more hoovering x

Armchairanarchist · 06/10/2018 15:22

Thank goodness for punctuation.

orangejuicer · 06/10/2018 15:23

Your mw may give you a sheet of exercises to do before referring you to physio. Has certainly worked for me on the days I remember to do it, but my PGP isn't severe.

Frlrlrubert · 06/10/2018 15:31

I had a support bandage, like a rib to mid thigh tubey grip thing (in August ffs). Advice was: Try to keep your knees hip width apart at all times, so stairs one at a time, get out of the car like you're wearing a mini skirt (plastic bag on the seat so you can whiz round without resistance). Avoid lifting, avoid pushing or pulling loads, especially with twisting, so no hoovering, shopping trolleys, etc. Avoid driving long journeys. I was told there may be birth positions I couldn't use, but I forgot all about it once in labour (possibly why my back is still fooked 2 years later? Dunno)

Hope yours is milder OP, good luck.

I read this as you had just hoovered your vagina. ShockGrin

LEMtheoriginal · 06/10/2018 18:43

You see im reading this in the bath. I dont have my glasses on. i DIDNT SEE THE COMMA!!! 😱

TheFairyCaravan · 06/10/2018 18:47

If you have SPD you really shouldn’t hoover or push shopping trollies, pushchairs etc.

For now rest as much as possible, keep your knees together and ice the joint.

dreamyflower · 06/10/2018 19:51

Classic SPD. I can't even stand without feeling like someone is stabbing me in the vagina. I'm 34 weeks. Physio told me hoovering was a no no.
