Breast pump confusion!

Hi Mums!
This is my first visit to Mums Net. I’m due with my fist child on Feb 12th! I’m looking at breast pumps and kits and the Lansinoh 2-in-1 electric one seems to be my best option. My question is does anyone know if I can use it with the Tommee Tippee Express and Go kit? Was it simple? Also looking for any other suggestions you have for pumps and kits. If they’re a little cheaper then all the better!
Thanks in advance x

Depends on what your pumping needs are going to be? Are you going to be breastfeeding and using the pump occasionally for the odd bottle feed or you looking to purely express and bottle feed?

Medala swing is always my recommendation for a breast pump.. I exclusively breastfed for 2 years but occasionally pumped if I needed to go out and dh could bottle feed..

I’d would actually recommend just getting a cheap manual pump to start unless you plan on pumping a lot. They are about £20. If you decide you want something more after baby arrives, then I second the Medela Swing. An electric pump isn’t cheap, especially if it turns out you don’t need/want it!

Hi, I'm not sure if they still do it but may be worth a call...if your not planning to exclusively breastfeed sure start centres were loaning medela ones out last year you just have to pay £10 deposit which you get back when you return it. They will loan it to you for a month. I used it for the month and expressed then combined fed with aptamil ready made milk.

The idea might be a little gross at first, but buy a second hand one if you want a pump?
I planned on pumping to help engorgment and so dh could join in a feed or two, but dd wouldn't take a bottle no matter how much I tried and it was agony trying to get the smallest drop out not to mention time consuming when I could just sling her straight on it.
I read that some women find particular pumps easier than others (usually a manual is easier and better unless you're pumping a lot of the time) so might be better being able to spend less if it doesn't work with one and able to try with another?
I bought mine from ebay, thank goodness for cheap, but you're able to clean all the bits that need cleaning and mostly mums like to keep that sort of thing in a good condition anyway.
