Dealing with friends and family when overdue

I'm overdue by almost a week now and while I was frustrated at first, I'm accepting now that he'll arrive when he's ready or I may end up having an induction in a week or so.
However what I can't deal with is the constant stream of messages from my family and friends! I know they mean well and I know I should be grateful that they care, but it's all day every day and I feel so under pressure because of them! Some messages are identical daily 'No baby yet?' from the same person! It is really driving me mad and I'm starting to get annoyed which I know is totally irrational. I don't want to make a fuss over it so dont want to tell them it's annoying me, but any tips on dealing with this??

I’m 40+1. I responded quite firmly to my grandma yesterday about asking if the baby arrived yet. I explained I would tell my mum when I went to the hospital and she would tell my grandma.
I’d tell a friend off for that. It is stressful enough, point that stressing you out will likely just make it all take longer!!

Finally blew up at my mum. She pointed out to me that if she'd known I was going to go so overdue they would have booked their holiday like they originally planned.... I lost it 🙈

I’ve also just experienced a classic - my other half’s sister rang him (again) and I heard the voicemail as he put it on loudspeaker in the car. She said ‘Jamie, it’s been a week - I think you have got your dates wrong’.
Unbelievable! (Yep, I’m sure my obstetrician just made a date up. Or we just can’t count). I actually did laugh at this one.

Can’t you type something like the following and send it to all:
“Thank you all for your good wishes, it’s lovely to know how many people care. However, if you are dying for the baby to make an appearance, you can imagine how I feel! Kind as your messages are individually, getting scores of “Is it here yet?” messages every day is really getting me down. Blame it on hormones!
I won’t be replying to anymore texts now until after the baby, but DP will inform everyone as soon as we have something to tell.
Love you all! Fingers and toes crossed that it won’t be long now.
Over and out,
Surrey xxx “

Haha @lady!!

@lightdrizzle good advice there. I've actually had a rant to my brother about my mum so am trusting him to pass on the message 👍 I'm just going to ignore my well meaning friends. God I sound like such a bitch!! 🙈

The key thing, really, is to keep a list of these “well-meaning friends” and wait patiently to exact your revenge at the end of their pregnancies! 😂 What goes around, comes around... 😉

I think I ended up telling my mum that she didn’t need to check daily, she was my mum and would be the first to know when baby arrived! In the end we told both sets of parents when I was in the pool at the hospital to see if they could round up newspapers from that day when it seemed likely he’d be born before midnight! We told no one else until he had arrived safely and I was up for the obligatory new mum and baby photo. Everyone survived waiting!
