Breastfeeding after a general anaesthetic

I'm pregnant with dc3 and I'm worried about establishing breastfeeding after birth.
I've had to have a general anaesthetic with my first two children due to failed natural delivery and my spinal cord injury making it difficult for them to do an epidural.
I have been advised to have a section again this time and that they may consider trying a spinal but I will likely just have a planned section with a GA.
I struggled feeding after the last two. What can I do differently this time to prepare or better support myself for feeding afterwards?

As soon as you are awake enough to hold your baby you can breastfeed.

Going to a breastfeeding class or cafe before hand is a good idea. There’s a new book out the positive breastfeeding book which is good.

Hope this works.
Laid back breastfeeding positions might help as you don't have to sit upright.

From 36/37 weeks you can usually try to harvest colostrum(I don't know your medical history, so do check with your midwife who can also provide syringes) which can be frozen in syringes and taken into hospital with you. Just let the staff know on arrival so they can store it and make sure it's used if needed. See if the hospital have breastfeeding support workers or there are any local groups that meet.

Afterwards do as much skin to skin as you can and feed, feed, feed. Don't be afraid to tell people what you need them to do and ask for support from the midwives.
