Severe nausea and vomiting - homeopathic remedies

I'm pregnant with my second and the first time round I had HG. It really made me consider having another one. But 2.5 years later here we are, and I'm back where I was with my first. My constant nausea is really getting to me, I'm crying all the time, I just want to sleep as it's the only time I don't feel sick.
I've been in touch with a homeopath and she's sent me 5 different tablets to try. Just wondering if anyone has ever tried homeopathic remedies during pregnancy and did they help? The sickness I can almost deal with but it's the nausea! It's affecting my daily life and my relationship with other half and LG who are both doing their best to understand.
Please tell me the homeopathic tablets will be the magic remedy I need!!

The fact that she’s given you five different types of pill to “try” suggests shes hoping the placebo effect will alleviate some of the symptoms.

Have you been to the GP yet?

Alwaysatyke · 04/10/2018 16:53

It won't work. Homeopathy doesn't work. If it seems like it is working then it's a coincidence. Please, go see your GP and stress how miserable this is making you so you can get better help, but please don't waste your time or money on a homeopath

Personally I wouldn't mess with somethibg not medically supported. I had cyclizine and found travel sickness eased the worst of it.

madamdarkin · 05/10/2018 06:39

@lrw86 which remedies did the homeopath send you? I'm only 5 weeks, no sickness yet, but waiting to hear back from my homeopath in South Africa re a battle plan!

Homeopathy does not work.
Eating little and often helped my nausea, I prescribe bsbybel cheese and fluffy crisps like quavers.
See your GP if you really cannot cope, they should also be able to dicuss with you alternative therapies that actually work.
You can stick the £50 in the post,ta.

OP, homeopathy doesn't work. As proven bu science. It is so dilute that not a single molecule of the active substance remains. I'm a scientist myself.

I also had HG with both my pregnancies, right until the end (DS2 is 8 months old). I also questioned whether I could do it again and by week 7, the constant vomiting had me considering termination, as it dawned on me that the next 33 weeks were going to be more of the same.

None of the medications worked and I ended up on an anti-depressant (Sertraline), which is safe for use in pregnancy. I had to time it right so as not to vomit them back up, and of course they didn't alleviate the physical symptoms, but they did help me cope with it mentally. Worth a try?

I’ve been to the doctors and have been prescribed cyclazine too but I used that with my first and didn’t make a difference, that’s why I thought I’d try the homeopathic route.
I’m also on sertraline and have been on this since about 6 months before I got pregnant so not sure if it’s helping me cope with this better or not. I don’t really feel like it is because I’m so low all the time.
Going to give these homeopathic remedies a try and see if they help - was hoping someone might have a positive review of trying these.

OP, homeopathy doesn't work. Hearing some positive stories in here won't change that. Eating little and often can really help or you could try going back to your GP. Sorry if this sounds harsh - I don't mean to be harsh to you, I just get so 😡 at charlatans lying to people who are really struggling.

Celebelly · 06/10/2018 16:56

Do you know what the pills are and have checked they are safe for use in pregnancy? That's my main fear - there's a belief that natural things can't be damaging, but they very much can! Make sure you know they are safe to take before doing so.

I hope you feel better soon Thanks

Furrycushion · 06/10/2018 17:02

Homeopathic remedies will be harmless in pregnancy as they literally have nothing in them. That's one thing to be said for them.

Justme1981 · 06/10/2018 17:02

Hi op im so sorry you are suffering it sounds like you have hg again i would strongly advise you go back to your gp other antiemetics can be prescribed. I also had hg its miserable, i ended up having various combinations of antiemetics & hospital admissions for dehydration :-( so i completely empathise. But as others have said homeopathy doesnt work, you are paying for what are essentially sugar tablets. I also found the pregnancy sickness support charity (google them) really helpful, their peer supporter even visited me in hospital.
Take care best wishes xx

Ginger and peppermint are good natural remedies

penisbeakers · 06/10/2018 17:07

Homeopathy is a scam - please do not fall for it. It won't make you feel better, and whomever is selling them to you, is a con artist.

Oct18mummy · 06/10/2018 17:10

I had cyclazine but also had sessions of accupunture it really helped I would highly recommend

Wanttomakemincepies · 06/10/2018 17:16

There are other anti sickness tablets available which can be used in pregnancy. I am also on my second HG pregnancy. It is NOT normal pregnancy sickness. Get in touch with pregnancy sickness support and there is a great HG thread on here. If your GP doesn't take it seriously then go to your early pregnancy unit. Homeopathy won't work.

earlybirdhasanap · 06/10/2018 17:18

If cyclizine doesn't work ask for something else. I'm now on metaclopromide and it's made life much more tolerable. This is my second hg pregnancy and I actually think it's worse second time round because you know what you're in for.
Personally I wouldn't be taking random homeopathic remedies. I'd be taking something that has been researched as safe to use in pregnancy.
